Nolan

I don't think that we will sell either Barton or Nolan in this transfer window. As others have already said, Barton still has one year left and may well let his contract run out so that he can get a higher wage at a new club than he would be offered if they had to pay a transfer fee, and Nolan still has 2 years to go.

Ashley has said that he wishes to follow the Arsenal blueprint. We all know that he wants to buy good young players with potential to be developed into top footballers, but it looks like he also wants to copy them at the other end of the age spectrum. Arsenal do not have too many 30+ year olds on their books (apart from goalkeepers). In fact they only have Squillaci, Rosicky and Arshavin. Once a player reaches 30, Wenger looks to offload them or offers them short contracts with the option to extend.
Man Utd also only offer short contracts to players in their 30's, so it looks like our club is adopting the same policy.

Henderson for £20m is a hell of a deal and Bent wanted to leave. We've got loads of cash to spend on some top players whereas Fat Mike wants to just sell and pay peanuts for Championship or unproven riff-raff. Neil Taylor! haha!! psmsl!
