That might work in ideal land. In reality, the likes of Gerrard and Carra will think they know best, and even if the manager did ask them nicely, they are still going to feel superior, they will think they know more about how it should be done, and, no matter how much the may want to do well, subconsciously, they will not be able to perform. So those two will have to go.

Then we get onto the none local big players, Suarez, Skrtel, Agger, Pepe Enrique and Johnston. They are now thinking that there is no chance of winning anything here in the next 3-4 years, and they are at the top of their game, so their transfer requests will be submitted in the next day or two.

So we are left with Carroll, Hendo, Adam, Coates, Kelly and Downing. Hopefully Lucas, but he could be in group B and jumping too.

So what team is the manager going to ask nicely? Yes, the one that can't do it even if they wanted... Gonna sux to be us for a few years.

So you are saying that we will never get a new stadium then aren't you?
Then we truly are mid table no hopers.

    Thanks

Don't get me wrong, I think it is an excellent appointment, as long as he gets the time, and all the fair weather glory hunters are not expecting a top 4 next year. I'm just trying to set expectation at a more realistic level.

Right. I make it a point to speak to people on here the same way that I would in the real world. I wouldn't spit abuse in someone's face in reality and I won't do it here, but I'm amazed at the negativity being shown by some.
Of course we should be cautious, of course we don't know what's going to happen, but it seems to me some people are miffed that we haven't chosen the route that they wanted and now seem to want us to fail so they can say "I told you so"
Don't condemn the new regime before it's even had a chance.

No. I'm saying that it's much harder to raise money to fund a stadium in today's world. It will happen, but we can't just say we need x so we'll build it; everything is governed by simple economics today (unlike pre 2008). If G&H had spent a small fortune against out club when they promised to do so, it would of been offset against the club and we may have even gone bust!

I think FSG are doing an OK job as owners, I'm not sure; it may be great, it may not.....but I look at it from a business perspective because we are not owned by a sugar daddy (unfortunately or fortunately depending on which side of the fence you sit on). I also think that we'll fund our stadium in a sustainable way, this will definately include stadium naming rights....and that FSG will look at the most cost effective way of increasing stadium income.

I believe that stadium plans will be announced in the coming few months.....am sure they'll have a target date for completion too.

Just be careful what you wish for, the last pair nearly bankrupted us, despite a top 4 finish season after season! <ok>

Mate, I might work in finance but I'm no expert in economics. Think you need to ask Dave for the breakdown but it needs to be a combination of all things mentioned. (and I believe he is a lot more positive about the economic prospect concerning the stadium than I am)

Needs to be the Right financial time and other than in 1930's there's never been a worse time to be asking those that lend to risk so now.

Investors, we look a hell of a lot better than 2 years ago but as you have said yourself; we have not been the epitome of success recently. Would you throw 100 mill our way on a business plan based on as the WuMS would call it "history"

The image is good but it needs a polish.

I've news for you, I've already said it on this forum, the stadium is not happening in the next 5 years. That should give us time to see if FSGs reorganisation brings the success & sustainability they claim.

If so, you get your new home.

If not it won't matter because we will be the has Beens you fear. I'll remember to congratulate you for your foresight if that happens.

By all means be concerned mate but cheer up!
