... not when I looked... I saw the deleted thread, nothing obvious for the casual lurker, which if you look at my post count back then, was the category I fell into. Not everybody can read all the threads, all the time... You (& few others on here) really do need to work on your charm.
AH made a thread discussing his concerns, we also had a thread about Varney leaving and Prothero joining - you know, factual information.
... back on topic... Jimenez doesn't appear to be a lucky charm does he...? http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jan/05/charlton-athletic-owners
I knew this would link would come up. At the time of this I admit to being apprehensive, but since then the owners have been nothing short of fantastic so I judge them by that merit. 101 points later..
... Yes that was fantastic & I enjoyed it as much as the next addick, but it was a one season jolly up in League 1, that's all.. It's quite obvious these guys are here for the short term, it's what follows, is what concerns me. People come to the conclusion that they will end up selling a more attractive proposition, than they inherited, and let's hope that's a best case scenario, but there are also many other outcomes. Jiiminez's CV doesn't make pretty reading, which ever way you want to spin it.
I agree that the board aren't looking to stick around for the length of time that Murray did. But we know that from their own admissions. I find the honesty in what they trying to accomplish very refreshing, and they have been true to their word thus far. When they do decide to sell up I think I will be more anxious, but I take heart from the fact RM will still be kicking around trying to do his best for the club.
I don't see them as honest at all... The sound bites are straight out of "how to win friends & influence people... They say all the right things, without much substance... such as:- Question,"Why did you come to Charlton..? SLATER:- It wasn't Crystal Palace... Cheesy! Fundamentally they're front-men for larger secret stakeholders... So in essence the set up is mystery, not honesty. As AH so rightly put it, "never underestimate the value of cash... Murray wrote my & other peoples shares off "to save the club", and let's not forget, he would have had a firm eye on his own dwindling wealth... Yes Murray has our interest, but he's also made many poor decisions since the appointment of Dowie... So selling to these guys could've had a slice of desperation to it. Most takeovers come all bells & whistles, fan fare welcomes, ours had all the excitement of a wake. the only substantial statement that came from the then big player Peter Varney was,"if this takeover hadn't happened we would have gone into administration". My hope is that TJ has the links to serious money men, and those that really want to further the club.
I've not read the article properly or the comments on this thread but having a very brief read through your board, I noticed the above words. Look's like blue buses on the way
Bit worrying when you don't know what's going on. I read the Chicago Addick blog, but much like everywhere else, there's no real information happening. Sadly, there's little we can do anyway, so just sit back and hope for the best.
