Peugot buying vauxhall from GM helped by the weak pound caused by Brexit.

I wonder what happens next in the post brexit world. 4000 directly employed assembly workers, 8000 supplier jobs and 20000 jobs in franchised garages selling them...
Its starting to get real.

I'm puzzled. An American company sells one of its brands to a French company. So what?

We have no British-owned marques left to speak of, so the whole industry is effectively controlled by foreigners.

Nothing's changed.

Peugeot are French. They will want to consolidate (close factories) to make money and get the remaining factories running at full tilt.

Do you think FRENCH Peugeot will close a FRENCH factory that still can trade in the EU without tariffs or the BRITISH one that CANT?

It's a question I pose not a statement I make.

They would want to close the French one, they probably work 30hr weeks on twice the pay, twice the holidays and go on strike if the kettle breaks.
