I am sure there are ways round this. It is always cash rather than profit that forces Administration. Tony has said he will sort it and that is good enough for me.
Given that Robbo has spent more than two years on the treatment bed and is now a first choice player do you reckon he owes the club a bit of loyalty?
NO. He signed for us to play first team football in The Premier while he was in the England under 21 team. What did we do? Harry send him to Huddersfield on loan & played inferior players at left back (those included Traore!)! That was hardly actions that would have endeared our club to him. The injury he then sustained was while performing at Huddersfield & Queens Park Rangers had a binding contract to honour. He was retained whilst injured for no other reason. If we were to match his current salary then he may consider signing a new contract, but the rumour is that this is above our current ceiling & only a reduced wage could be offered. I don't think he will have any problem receiving offers from clubs at a higher salary than he is currently on.
Ian Holloway drops major hint on the future of QPR stars Nedum Onuoha and Jack Robinson - Get West London https://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/spo...ews/ian-holloway-qpr-onuoha-robinson-14442962
It seems a fair attitude to take with fringe players but foolish for first teamers IMO. We'll end up relying on Hall and Baptiste to stay injury free since we don't seem to have youngsters waiting in the wings at CB or LB.
We couldn’t find a deal for Clint Hill, so I don’t see how we will be able to make a deal for Onuoha or Robinson. Being vital positions, and knowing that, I’m surprised our scouting team weren’t/aren’t out prospecting for suitable replacements. We can’t afford a leaky defence and forward line not scoring enough goals.
Can't we just give them the new normal salary plus Jamie mackies salary on top for performance Kill 5 birds with 1 stone that way
I suspect Clint didn’t sign not for money reasons but because there was no guarantee he would play much (he would have played a lot of course).
Lee Cook was on the podcast this week discussing, amongst other things, this problem. He's an agent now, and he reckons there are CDs out there in the lower leagues available, who can step up, but I very much doubt they are of the quality of Robinson, or even Ned. The panel also seem convinced that Smithies will be off, with Lumley coming back and going straight into the No1 jersey, ahead of Ingram as he's been doing so well out on loan. They added that one of the reasons Ollie had been playing a back 3 is because he didn't trust one of his two defenders to not have a blooper during the match!
Maybe the best way to hang onto both players is to say to interested parties....you take on of these guys and we will let you have JET for free
I think I read that somewhere. Shouldn't be a problem with Ned or Robinson who have been regulars when fit.
I am sure Ollie wants to keep both players...but he, the club and the players must know the wage limits we are now playing under. Both those players will be on contracts beyond that limit. Therefore I am sure both players will be offered a contract probably at the top of that new limit..which will probably represent a substantial pay cut. It will be up to them to decide whether to take it...obviously depending on what other teams come in for them. In realty Robinson will be snapped up by a promoted team or a mid premier team (Burnley) I wonder more about Ned....
Fulham reportedly after Robinson and Ned was linked with Burnley earlier this season. I'll be surprised if they are both with us next season...
