We probably couldn't afford Martinez wages. If Coleman had wanted the job, he would have made it clear to the Welsh FA that he wanted to be been interviewed and it would have happened by now. We may as well give it to Phelan just so we can start catchup on getting some players through the door
I think you are wrong if you think getting players is going to be easier than getting a manager - unless we go for championship standard players.

Martinez, if our number one target could have been offered the job 13 days ago.

Marc Wilmots was on £515,000 per year according to a report in June this year. Hard to imagine Martinez was offered much more than that. The Belgium job was a really quick turnaround, I don't therefore believe he was offered the job here. He could have earnt at least double that. You can see what Lukaku thinks of his appointment.

How do you know Moyes had no better offers? Are you his PA?

According to Tobes he was offered the job.

No I'm not Moyes PA.

The easiest and most likely pl gig he'll get? I wouldn't say he doesn't need that.
Put yourself in his position. Being held on a string by the Allams as their last resort if all else fails. He has roots in the North West and all of those connections with Man U. He's better connected than the jokers running our club. When they've got nobody by next Thursday he can name his price , assuming a PL club has to have a 'manager' in place to play a fixture. Why the **** would he want to stay in East Yorkshire after being thought of as 'you'll do' by the Allams , PL or not. He might actually have some pride.

To get pl football on his cv. No future employer will see this as anything but a massive tick for hiring him so it's all doing him a world of good.

Jim White on Twitter indicating we might stick with Phelan apparently 4 bids in for players. Not sure whether that's for players incoming or outgoing.

Another randomer has stated new manager incoming on Monday with £50m to spend. He also says Maguire is going. Apparently came from a Q&A with Deano tonight?

Probably both bullshit.

A lot of Villa fans thinking they are trying to sign Hernandez - They can **** right off.

If its outgoing then we won't be able to field a team against Leicester!

Which Monday? <laugh> ... And is he bringing his own cash? <laugh><laugh><laugh>

RH reckoned Harry was going nowhere earlier today

Villa fans have always been deluded <laugh>

I don't think he's being made a fool of, he knows perfectly well what's going on.
So on his CV will be ;
Managed Hull City 2016/2017 (4th choice)
Relegated 2016/2017

Hardly a great testament to success.

I do genuinely hope I'm wrong. It will be interesting to see what happens.

As I said, no one looking in expects us to be anything other than 20th. If Phelan has us playing half decent football and can pick up a few points, that will be a mark of success for him.
