It's pretty obvious who the next manager will be. To be successful in business you must only use short names, any fool knows that. Based on that theory, from the list of fancied managers, it will be Roy Keane.

Seriously, Martinez odds on. It's looking like him.
Good luck to him, I reckon most City fans will give him a lot of leeway knowing what's going on.

Lets say it is Martinez, who's happy with that? Is it a step up or a step down from Bruce?
I don't think any Bruce idolisers can possibly knock Martinez as he won the Cup, all that counts to them is things like that. To be honest he is younger, healthier and most likely smarter than Bruce and more up to date to boot but Everton fans didn't seem to like him much.

I'd be happy with Martinez - plenty of PL experience and his teams (Wigan, Swansea) tend to play good football although Everton fans don't like him. I'd say a slight step up and I'd be a little more confident of us staying up with him in charge especially if he gets a decent transfer budget. (which I assume he will have insisted on IF he takes the job)

That'll be the Everton team that Martinez out, the one we thrashed ... <doh>
The last week or so reading posts on here it seems some rank managers based purely on things achieved so surely Martinez is ahead of Bruce on that score as he actually brought home the cup. I don't think he is that much of a step up personally if at all but I respect him, I just seem to recall hearing a lot of Everton fans saying last season that they thought he was, well a bit useless to be honest

I'd have probably been more confident had Bruce stayed as it was continuity and momentum from last season but maybe Martinez will be a man with points to prove and he always comes over well to me like he has a bit of fire in him

tbh I don't really give a **** what other fans say about ex-players/managers - if we get him we'll give him our backing until he's either moved on to bigger and better things, or we sack him. I wasn't impressed with Everton defensively when we've played them this last couple of times, they outplayed us first half at Goodison but once we pulled level, and really got at them there was only one team likely to win, as ever, we couldn't buy a winner though. The 2-0 home win? They were a real shambles, but ........ that was then and he's perhaps pondered on ''defence'' while he's been unemployed. However it goes, I'll never boo him nor will I rip him to shreds on an internet forum.

Good point about the defence side of it, I think that's were people have been laying into him, especially with John Stones being a bit naive at the back sometimes. In terms of people laying into the managers online this is always going to happen really, but then again I reckon fans are entitled to express their views and it's been pointed out to me that nobody from Hull City or Tigers 1904 as it is these days pays attention to whats written here anyway.

We've always been defensivley sound but abit blunt going forward, teams often reflect there managers

So if Martinez signs expect our style to be reversed depending on transfer success

I'd say it's a step sideways

The million dollar questions are

Will he have a proper budget to work with
Can he establish us as a prem team something I personally believe was beyond Bruce

I think we have more chance establishing in the prem under Martinez than Bruce IF he's given generous backing

Is Johannes Vennegoor of Hesselink dipping his toes into management ?
Known to the Allams as Jan.

That's an interesting thought. Imagine if you will he lands the job. Years from now, as his fortunes wax and wane like they always do, there will be signs around the KC which read "VENNEGOOR OF HESSELINK OUT!" Are there bedsheets large enough to hold all the letters?

Yes, we demand a healthy manager.

Wayne foy was on humberside (ex humberside dj) he's a scouse and big Everton fan, he doesn't think Martinez can establish us as a pl team

Everton fans are biased against Martinez. Expectations at the two clubs are vastly different. Everton want to be chasing a European place, while we will take survival for a couple of seasons and then hopefully progress from there. While bottom half (but safe) is not acceptable to Everton it will do nicely for us.

Deano's on the radar at 50/1....
6 bookies have Roberto at odds-on, whilst Ladbrokes have him at 5/4 , some outfit called Boylesports are at 9/4 fav. One G. Rowett is coming up on the rails..
Eddie Howe is in the pack somewhere, but sadly can't see him coming through.

Playing devils advocate here - Hull City are closer to the Martinez Wigan side than the Everton one, and we all know what happened to them. I'd take the FA cup win though.
