I've only been lucky enough to get tickets for four finals,Ipswich,Valencia,Sheff Weds and Birmingham
Just like last summer was garbage right? Oh wait we got Giroud, Podolski, and Cazorla 33 Goals and 27 Assist is definitely a "steaming sh!t" right?
Yes, last summer wasn't that good either, which is why we're 6th, and 20 points behind United. Yes, that is a big pile of steaming ****.
Liverpool 87 W Luton 88 L Sheff W 93 W Sheff W 93 W (thanks to the Magic Man) Parma 94 W Zaragoza 95 L Newcastle 98 W Liverpool 01 L (thanks to the ref) Chelsea 02 W S'oton 03 W Had tickets for Barca CL final but had to blow it out as my daughter was being born. Close decision though.
I had to watch the Barca final in a bar in Canada. A mate of mine and his missus used to have ST's at Anfield. They had tickets for the 01 final and for the UEFA cup final the following Wednesday. They had to give them up because the poor ****er had a heart attack
That's harsh. I had to miss the last final we won, due to being called over to Istanbul with work. Paid overtime every hour I was there and spent the day in a Turkish bar with Liverpool fans (over for the CL final), getting pissed out of my head on expenses. Ran up a bar bill of over £100 (paid by work), bear in mind Turkish beer prices whilst getting paid 3X my daily rate. There for 2 weeks and nailed the job. Had to watch the game again when home as couldn't remember too much.
Hey! Agreed however cheap shot I'm technically a Johnny come lately yet I still understand there's life after AW. Maybe say until people still stuck in grammar school or something of the sort ;P
Seeing as any reasonable debate is wasted on him, I have decided to respond to the OP via the medium of image instead: please log in to view this image
Whilst I often agree with Arsenal87 (though it's incredibly tiresome having to translate rant into simple sentences), I disagree that Giroud, Podolski & Cazorla have been useless. Personally I've been very happy with them. This transfer window, however, is definitely a failure overall. I'm happy that Chamakh has gone on loan, though this is counteracted by Bendtner coming back from Juventus. Djourou going on loan is inexplicable since a new CB hasn't come in, an injury to any of the 3 CBs and suddenly the remaining 2 will be expected to play every game for the rest of the season. Bringing in Nacho was a very good move. Santos does look out of shape, and this essentially confirms that his career with Arsenal is over. He may have been scheduled to come in in summer, but he has arrived now due to the injury to Gibbs. This tells me that if Gibbs hadn't got injured, he wouldn't have come in, which concerns me. Arsenal require a striker, as at the moment all 3 of the strikers play every game. That will take its toll towards the end of the season, and one more face (that isn't purely forehead) to add some rotation was almost essential. That this didn't happen is very disappointing. Further, some strength in midfield since Frimpong & Coquelin don't seem to be trusted, and Diaby & Rosicky struggle to stay fit. I've been pleasantly surprised by Ramsey in the holding roll, and Arteta is back now, but the failure to sign anyone when Sissoko, M'Vila, and Diame were all available is also disappointing. Overall, I'd give this window a 3 out of 10. Great that Nacho came in - he'll add something to the squad for the next few years - but he only came in because Gibbs was injured. Chamakh went out, Bendtner is back, so no wages saved there. Djourou went on loan, leaving the team short at CB, no striker came in, and the midfield looks a little lightweight (which is strange as there's Cazorla, Wilshere, Arteta, Ramsey, Diaby, Coquelin & Rosicky currently available). If the team can stay fit until seasons end, then they have a good chance of Top4. Personally I think it's 50/50 at this stage, and I would have liked a couple of signings to send out a message that just Top4 isn't enough, and they're trying to build on what they have to progress upwards. At present it seems Arsene is content just to tread water in 4th place, picking up the cash, but never really challenging for either the Title or the CL.
Signings were never likely in this window, we all know what Wenger thinks of it. The worry is if we finish 5th or lower, will the likes of Villa want to join us in the summer?
This season was never going to amount to any more than a CL spot. AW has, I hope, got enough of a squad to ensure that spot without wasting our war chest in the January money pit. We will achieve a CL place again this year and then spend our money to far greater effect in the Summer. AW the genius strikes agin
Arsenal are very much an Elite club that status is not just defined by what we have won in the past 7 years there are numerous factors that give us that status, we have been a fixture in Europe's top club competition for 16 years but more importantly in terms of revenue generated from footballing sources (not sugar daddies) we are up there with United, Barca and Real. We are certainly one of Europe's Elites.
Not sure we're quite at that level. I'd put us alongside Chelsea and Liverpool, just below the elites
