Agree Chsmpionship isn't the best level to judge but as the season has barely begun the squad must to a degree be being picked on last seasons form. Which is why Austin should still be picked, he's scored four and got two assists already which suggests it's just business as usual for him unlike Kane, Berahino etc who so far this season have done jack ****. Charlie scores goals, it's what he does, the fact he's now in the championship hasn't fricking ruined him yet.
What about all the English players who usually do nothing more than warm the bench of the elite clubs? They're not regularly playing at the top level either but will still get picked but for players temporarily outside of the top flight the door is slammed shut. It's this kind of one-dimensional management and coaching that have made England a third class nation at international level. For sure this is another reason why CA won't think twice when the offer comes in.
Tell you what Swordsie you should try and get over for a game before winter sets in......you only hate this league due to lack of media coverage. There are some decent sides in the division, Ipswich, Brighton, Cardiff to name a few, just because the clubs do not have world class players or household names playing for them doesn't mean that the games are rubbish all the time. A lot of the sides are as good to watch as Sunderland, Villa, Norwich, Newcastle, Stoke, West Brom, Everton......just without the hype...... You never know you may be pleasantly surprised......
Against us? Thought they looked a decent side, kept possession well, moved the ball around, just lacked a bit in front of goal.......
Have to say, as a ST holder, I enjoy our seasons in the Championship moving upwards a great deal more than seasons in the Prem (particularly last season) when we're regularly getting spanked There's only so much enthusiasm I can have for majestically-created goals when they're being created week in, week out against my team!
C'mon now Aqua nowt wrong with admiring top class football, but in Swords case it is the be all and end all....
Neither Austin or Green should be in the England squad. It's laughable that anyone is even considering Green, he's had a woeful start to the season. The keeper who can feel hard done by, is one Alex McCarthy who has been superb for Palace at the start of the season. Perhaps Vardy shouldn't be in the squad, but at his expense i'm sure Defoe would be a better suggestion considering he's scored a few already this year.
Agreed Tram, but the Champs is also a very good competitive league....and in my humble opinion, in many respects better than the overly hyped Premier League. Many people get spell bound by the hype that surrounds the Prem.
Agree with you there Aqua, I have a dislike for the Premier League, hardly watched any of it this season so far.......
The only issue I have with the Championship is the lack of coverage. I like that winning feeling which we all too seldomly experienced in the Premiership.
You was watching a different game to me mate. Both sides were rubbish imo. It was a "Welcome back to the Championsh*t, hope you hate every minute of your stay" game for me. I felt like curling up into a ball and crying.
I watch motd if I can, but gave up sky sports a few years back. much prefer the lower leagues. Proper fans, no tourists or hype. I go to watch Crawley Town on occasions....only half an hour or so away.
Totally agree. Trouble is it is a double edged sword for me (is that the correct simile?).....success in the Champs means possible promotion to the Prem.
"Still early days but I think we may have been a bit harsh on our teams a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully we'll both be in and around the top 8 or so for most of the season." Swordsie, you were probably hoping that i wouldn't find this quote that you posted on the Cardiff board yesterday.......
