Song brings something to our game, that is why we can afford his occasionally inaccurate passes. He's a DM and still makes more ambitious passes, Ramsey does 5meter passes after slowing the play to a halt.

If you see my posts from earlier in the season I said we shouldn't be too harsh on Ramsey and he'll improve. He was given the benefit of the doubt and was given plenty of game time. I really don't understand how people are comparing him with Diaby. He's been MIA for so long, and still looks more composed on the ball compared to Ramsey. He's not the type of player we need either at this time (though even he is more direct), but Ramsey has had plenty opportunities to prove himself, Diaby hasn't.

My question, without making any comparisons to other players (especially those who were out all season), do you think Ramsey is good enough for Arsenal? (the title of the thread is "no excuses" ffs)

song is not a DM, as many have said before. he doesn't have the positional awareness or want to play that role, hence why he attacks so much.

or... he has to attack, cause Ramsey is ****e...

Whether you think he's a natural DM doesn't matter, Wenger plays him in that position.

Song isn't bad defensively, he has covered competently as a CB in more than a few situations in the past.

  6. Song gets in more tackles than most midfielders in the league - he is very good at breaking up play, a very good defensive quality. As an all round midfielder - attacking and defending he's one of, if not THE best mid fielders in the league right now.

Ramsey started the game poorly and was caught on the ball a few times. He improved in the second and finished it strongly. Played one excellent pass that RVP should have done better with. Now Diaby got some minutes, I would like to see start against Stoke with Song and Rosicky. We need Diaby's height and power for that game anyway.

Which was double the distance of the longest pass I have ever seen Song make :)

Song isn't a DM as stated, he isn't disciplined enough and he offers more going forward than a traditional DM. Problem is, his passing isn't good enough and either is his shooting to be anything else. He can't shoot and the only pass he plays apart from simple balls is that clipped ball forward, the one he tries again and again, the one that the law of averages says will reach it's intended target after so many tries. In my eyes Song is no more than a back up CM, too clumsy and slow and positionally wrong to be a DM and not creative enough to be an AM with too limited a passing ability to be a first choice box to box midfielder.

Ramsey can't tackle, he is defensively poor but that may change, maybe he holds back when tackling because of his injury. He can shoot very well from long range with either foot and when in form runs with the ball very well and passes well. Ramsey has the tools to be a very good midfielder for us, yes he sometimes dwells on the ball but he's got clunky midfielders around him who don't exactly pass and move. I have time for Ramsey, I hope he will come good.

  10. You really don't like Song ! <laugh> Got to disagree with you though HH, he's one of our best players this year in my view.

The guy is poor technically, his first touch is horrible. I watched the game an suddenly realized that Ramsey is not good on the ball at all.
Chelsea game showed yet again that our squad is very thin. 8-9 good players, 3-4 decent subs and the rest who can not be trusted in a difficult game.

Ramsey can't be trusted in an easy game, he's ****, plain and simple, he's utter ****, he's slow, his technical skill is rubbish, his awareness is rubbish, he brings nothing to this team, other than losing the ball and being useless on the pitch.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was equally as poor as Ramsey today. Some people have the glasses of love on for Oxo.

Ramsey has had far more playing time to prove himself than Oxo to be fair.

  17. Agreed. OXO is going to have some bad games, he's only played about 15 games for us. Ramsey should be operating at a higher level now, but he just isn't. I am hoping he's one of those players that takes a while to pick up confidence, but when he does, is worth the wait.

Agreed Ramsey was poor first half but improved considerably in the second half and did really well when playing in amore advanced position.....actually barring kos everyone was terrible first half why single Ramsey out. Also I doubt Ramsey was mentally confident considering he recieved death threats on twitter recently.

I was at the game yesterday and it was an odd one. Both us and chelsea looked a bit flat and the whole game lacked flair. Incidently the one actual moment of skill , vision and flair came from ramsey with his brilliant pass over the top to rvp
