The 'Angel' just ten minutes walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras. Some of the pubs are a wee touch 'Ya-Ya' but as I'm a bit of a snob that doesnae bother me!

From memory the best bars I visited were on Pentonville Road. There was a pretty decent 'music' place that I cannae remember the name of.

I think I know the pub you mean, my mate’s band played there a couple of times. Can’t recall the name of it myself either.

Used to be some decent pubs on Chapel Market, not sure how many are still there now. And the pubs on Essex Road weren’t bad, leading up towards Dalston.

Stoke Newington High Street used to be the best pub crawl in London btw. Especially if you like racing on the telly in the daytime, and a bit of live Oirish diddly diddly music in the evenings. There used to be a boozer down the Kingland Road end owned by a Jamaican geezer, a very rare thing back in the day (80s).

Happy ****ing days they were, before being permanently pissed caught up with me <laugh>

The Rochester Castle is a great pub, cheapest pub in Central London (but a ****ing Weatherspoons pub though).

Chapel Market is **** for pubs nowadays, all overpriced, cramped and full of twats. Essex Road has 1 good pub that I know of, most of it is flats and ****y antique furniture stores now.

Got one of my favourite pubs right near my office now, which is very convenient. Otherwise most sarf London pubs are dire.

    I want a pint now...

My parents used to take me there in my pram <laugh>

It's a spoons so will be open for breakfast as per. I went to the Southgate one and they've covered the place in pro-Brexit propaganda. My Mum complained to the staff <laugh> £2.50 a pint though...

The Rochester has some 'characters' in there, some of the old ****s probably sleep on the floor.

To be fair I think almost every pub in London was a Shane McGowan local at one time or another.

    Toby would know.

Used to see Shane sometimes in the Mother Redcap opposite Camden Tube station, before it became the World’s End. And another of his old haunts, the Dublin Castle on Parkway, which is still there and still has bands on (my mate owns the record shop next door).

Is the one in Southgate the New Crown? I spent a few lost afternoons in there, and the Rising Sun over the road.

Gotta admit I have had a few good meals in the 'locals' around the Chapel Street Market. I enjoyed this area especially when I was with my Mum as I could leave her stotting around the stalls while I indulged my love of bourbon.

Hopefully I will still be in full carousing mode after my Paris fun.

My only other intended London jaunt will be to The Coal Hole on The Strand.
