Whilst I can understand that Rodgers will not be working directly under a DoF, I sense that FSG are committed to bringing in a tiered managemend structure designed to work ALONGSIDE Rodgers as opposed to over him - which is the best way.

The manager is the one with the philosophy, playing style and the ideas and is in the best position to implement those ideas. It's harder to implement other peoples ideas when you may not truly believe in them or have the same passion/enthusiasm towards it.

Football management has come a long way since the glory days and there is more pressure on the manager. Dealing with the media and now new social mediums such as Twitter, player negotiations, agent fees, player power, short termist attitudes from foreign investors, scouting players ... and there is the small matter of training, tactics and winning matches. Rodgers will need help handling all of these different aspects, but ultimately, he will have the final say.

Bazray - admire your optimism! But I don't believe LFC has the same appeal as it once did. We have been out of the CL for a few years and haven't challenged for the title for a while. Nottingham Forest won the European Cup a few decades back, but it doesn't mean players are queuing up to play for them. Of course LFC have more history and more appeal than Forest, but the longer we continue without CL and failure to build our name and status in the modern game will leave us behind.
