Hi Clingo, hope to hear more from you now the season is stearting. Do people really expect forrest to finish 3 places above us with their lack of close season deals and the players they have lost. I think 5th to 8th is where we'll be. I know we've had a big turn over of players but they've had a full pre-season together. Don't expect them to hit the ground running, but I think we'll come up to speed faster than some of the other teams.
I am finding it hilarious. No one has seen the first team squad at Cardiff play a competitive game yet. Earnshaw, Miller and Conway are going to do some serious damage, the midfield and defence has been strengthened. We will be getting a few more players in on loan. I am certainly confident we can beat West Ham, this side could not win enough games to avoid relegation. Anyone thinking we will have a weaker side this season should reflect on the 3-0 loss to Middlesbrough and the 3-0 loss to Reading as it did not come much weaker than that.
Good shout JCK. Team news is up, anyone thinking Kevin Nolan has alot of pressure to deliver at West Ham? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14356630.stm
Good points jck200 and we have dispensed with the services of Bywater, JLS, JET, Koumas and Oli since then. Of those only Oli (when on form) would add any value to the current squad. In addition we have a fit again Hudson and Gezza back from Hull plus a young, keen and fit left back. When did we last say that? In the last 4/5 years we have had Capaldi, Kennedy, Naylor and JLS. Okay we have lost our big 4 up front but overall the standard of players coming in has improved the squad and Miller and Earnie have better scoring track records than any of the big 4 with the exception of Chops. We are right to be cautious after last year's let down but why not tinge that with a little optimism - we are City fans after all? I think top 6 for us with a fitter, leaner, meaner side come the end of the season.
Anyway, some good points there gents. I'm signing off as I'm off to Malta for a wedding this weekend, he's a Man Utd fan and yes I'll miss the first home game hopefully I'll come back with all positive threads on yer and some misfortune for our cousins down the road. Bluebirds
The easiest prediction of the seasopn is for Leicester to finish top(they could have it sewn up by Easter). There will be a lot of clubs hoping for second place, but I don't agree that Boro, Reading or Forest will be in the top six. What always interests me is the surprise relegation package (there always is one, think about it over past seasons.) Due to the consistent awfulness of Derby County I think it might be them this year. They just look like a club that is living off its past reputation and fan base (as has happened with Forest, Leeds, Sheff Wed and Southampton in previous years), but has completely lost momentum. As for us - with an inexperienced manager, no dominant midfielder, and no real quality up front: mid-table, 10th - 11th, would not be a bad first season for Malky.
Opinion respected Iggy but Malky's not that inexperienced due to his time at Watford on a shoe string budget. Okay no obviously dominant mid fielder but Kiss certainly has the makings, Gunnarsson has shone in poor Cov teams and Whitts could easily be a 20 goal man again. Also Cowie has good experience at this level. Could do with an experienced battler there I agree. Lack of quality strikers? Both Earnie and Miller average a goal every 3 games and are experienced internationals - at Championship level how much more quality do you need? Their legs may not be as strong but then we have youngsters in Mason and Gestede to do their running for them. Come on lets get a bit more positive, it will encourage the team. Was going to say "rub off on the team" but that would give one of our freinds from the west further cause to call us perverts.
Nice one Rhondda. I liked the image on a Welsh flag that was on show at either the World Cup or European Championships a few years ago. Welsh dragon on usual background but holding a dead swan by the throat. Anyone find an image of that?
Good find DJ View attachment 6242 ...can be customised too. Time to get the design cap on I think BfB...I don't remember seeing that particular flag but would be easy enough to put a pic together. Would look good on a t-shirt
'ang on, just 'ang bloody on there fellas - **** the tee shirts. What about Iggy's comment about Leicester. I've got £300 with WH that says he's wrong. Any comments?
Didn't see it but... new favourite band? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_Swans please log in to view this image EDIT: Agreed Sparkey can see chequebook Leicester falling flat.
Apart from Sunday Sparkey (and the home game of course), I hope you're quids in at the end of the season.. Throwing money at the title is never a guarantee and personally, I hope fester crash and burn
They are shocking JH My boy went through a phase of listening to them...thank christ that passed. Although saying that...the title of this one is appropriate. Dead Swans
I've said all along top half 7th - 10th around Christmas, strengthen in January and make a late run at the playoffs, thats with the squad we have at the moment, and there could be more to come; be satisfied with a top ten finish TBH, a playoff place would be a great bonus, I have a sneaking feeling that it won't be as cut and dried as some people seem to think, no doubt WHU and Leicester will be thereabouts, but I can't see anyone running away with it, my prediction for a suprise package, Brighton
