I have heard there is DD taking place too but under great scrutiny as you would expect from North Americans. Prepare for the summer departure of Chris and many others. When he took over he brought in a whole new squad and the next manager will be afforded the same luxury with better players than we have now coming in to give us a shot at the Premiership within two years. Many fans won't be happy I don't expect but once they see what the new era holds I am sure that things will settle down very quickly.
I think the whole CP issue would go quiet if we get a takeover as rumoured. The new owner then turns round and reappoints Curbs (who is in a different parish to the incumbent), and gives him money to spend. Imagine the feel good factor if that happened !
How popular is CP. I cant guarantee but I guess he is more popular than a fantastically light flaky pastry case on Charlton Life
I am unwilling to share the names(s) of the individuals that have informed me of what is on the horizon, you would not know either party from Adam anyway so there's no point. The fact is Charlton Athletic are a big football club that is under achieving (Please don't talk nonsense by saying we won League 1 with a record points total) that is not an achievement for a club of our size it was a stepping stone for where we should be today but are not. Jiminez and his close associates can take some of the blame for that but equally so does the manager who has been surpassed by fellow managers who started out on the managerial ladder after he did but are achieving with similar even lesser squads in some cases than what we have. I am prepared to say that although Chris remains as manager of CAFC he does so solely because of financial circumstances rather than choice of the owner, if Jiminez was in it for the long haul and had a valid interest in the performances on the pitch we would have had a new manager in September. Chris was very nearly relieved of his duties back then but somehow escaped by the skin of his teeth but for how much longer he'll carry on doing that is anyone's guess, if he lasts the course it will be until July 1st 2014 but not a day beyond that? As for Chris Solly, I love the guy but his career is in the balance, it really is touch and go for him I hear.
Welcome to Not606 Reams, do I get a prize for guessing right? Fantastic Light (foaled February 13, 1996) is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse and active sire. He was foaled in the United States but was trained in England and Dubai during his racing career, which ran from August 1998 to his retirement following the Breeders' Cup Turf on October 2001. He raced in six countries, winning Group One/Grade I races in five of them and was a dual winner of the Emirates World Series Racing Championship. He was named United States Champion Male Turf Horse, European Horse of the Year and European Champion Older Horse in 2001. He was also well known for his two races against the 2001 Epsom Derby winner Galileo. In August 2012 it was announced that he had been pensioned from stallion duty while in Japan and would return to Dalham Hall in England to live out his days as a pensioner. In his early racing career, when trained by Michael Stoute, he won the Sandown Classic Trial, the Great Voltigeur Stakes, the Arc Trial and the Dubai Sheema Classic. In 2000 after his transfer to Godolphin he won the Man O' War Stakes and the Hong Kong Cup. In his championship season in 2001 Fantastic Light won four of his six races; the Tattersalls Gold Cup, the Prince of Wales's Stakes, the Irish Champion Stakes and the Breeders' Cup Turf.
What makes us a big club? The fact we used to be in the Prem? I never liked this big club mentality, does this mean Bradford, Luton, Swindon are big clubs? This is the think I hate about Sheffield Wednesday, they think they deserve to be higher than they are...no team deserves to be higher than they are, they are where they are for a reason. A big club now a days are financial and size of fan base, what makes us neither, as financially we have nothing by most people's accounts and fan base, we're lucky to scrape 20k at a home game now... it hurts me to say but we're not that big a club
Thought this yesterday. And was then tipped off I was shown an article where AH is being accused of posting on there under a separate handle - which I assume was the motivation to sign up to not606. Lets just all make sure we behave
"Not606 have announced a major coup, with the signing of Reams,a senior member of the "Powell Out" club, to join already established names typical, Ponders, Vol & Ackers"
I agree, we are not a big club. If a Club is gauged by average attendances we are thirty first, with two teams in Div 1 , Wolves and Sheffield United with higher attendances. To my mind there is a handful of big Clubs in this country and they are Man Utd, Liverpool etc
We are a medium sized club, but bigger than Millwall & Palace. Just because we are not a big club it doesn't mean that we should'nt have a modicum of self respect. We won the FA Cup etc. The way the Club is being run down the karzi at the moment makes me fume.
Nearly 70 years ago... wouldnt say no to that record being stopped though... if by some miracle we won it this year do you think you'd accept Powell Vol?
