I think the idea was there might be news 'from' today, but to be honest, I was hoping for some news. Rumour (Ithink I saw it on CL) is that Southall is calling the sale invalid as there was no meeting and he doesn't know who the buyer is. The guy is a virus, and I genuinely hope he ends up in prison when the dust settles,
Relegation this season will threaten the Club's future. More than ever now, as the future of dozens if not hundreds of football Clubs is in danger due to Coronavirus. Relegation back in 2016 threatened CAFC's future as well. That relegation was so much more avoidable than the one that looms over us now. Without the fantastic work of Lee Bowyer, Johnnie Jackson and Steve Gallen we would still be in the lower leagues. Their work won't ever be forgotten by fans - just as the rotten stewardship and dishonesty of recent owners won't be forgotten.
Hearing stories from various itk sources that Varney/Barclay are still very much in the picture. I know he (Varney) will always be a Charlton fan favourite, but why is he getting into bed with someone like Barclay? Surely the polar opposite of what Charlton and it's fans stand for? Not sure how much you know about this family
Roland Duchatelet is only the former owner of the Football Club (value £1). He still owns the Valley, the training facilities and all the land they are built on - worth £millions. Of course he holds the key to CAFC's future. The Club can either pay him rent, or find somewhere else to train and play. If I owned the Club I would agree to whatever terms Roland demands - then use every possible method to bend and break that agreement during the next few seasons. Force him to try to evict the Club if he can, and make the whole business as public and as acrimonious as possible. Duchatelet created this situation. He may even have engineeered it deliberately. There is no way he should be allowed to get away with becoming Charlton Athletic's Landlord and still be regarded as an innocent party and a reasonable businessman after this whole sordid farce. And there is no way we should just move out without a fight, and let him cash in by developing the land. He is an evil old bastard, and he should be compelled to show himself to be exactly that, for what he has done to our wonderful old Club. I dare him to kick us out.
Your thoughts are in line with mine Mr Lardiman, am certain the f***** deliberately ensured a sale separating land and club. Dushitelet.
And you warned all alomg that he would split the Club from the Valley Elfs, and you were right. Some fans ignored you because they just weren't comfortable thinking about that danger, and the apologists dismissed your concern because they think Roland can do no wrong. I expect even now if Charlton Athletic does become a tenant in the stadium it used to own, the Apologists will argue that it's a good thing for one ridiculous reason or another. Roland's quislings would rather give away what the fans fought so hard to regain 30 years ago, than admit they are wrong to support the old Scrote.
