QPR poised for Niko Kranjcar pursuit

Sky Sports are reporting tonight that Harry Redknapp is looking to add Niko Kranjcar to his squad before the end of the transfer window, and that’s cause for some real optimism for QPR fans.

This isn’t like reading something in a tabloid, if Sky Sports are reporting it then there does tend to be some truth involved.

Kranjcar, who amazingly is still only 28, left Tottenham for Dynamo Kiev in the Summer and Redknapp is supposedly keen on a reunion.

When you think of the Croatian, specific attributes don’t necessarily jump out at you, but that’s more because he’s very proficient in a lot of different areas – i.e. he’s just a very good footballer. That he didn’t get much of a look in at Spurs shouldn’t be a judgement against him, because he was competing for a first-team place with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, and those were both contests he was never likely to win.

Discussing where he might fit in at Loftus Road is a bit premature, and it’s worth letting the story go a bit further before we go down that road. Still, he would improve on what Rangers already have, and that’s the key concern. He’s technically very capable, carries a decent goal-threat from within twenty-five yards, and has a really good eye for a final ball.

He’s not going to be a saviour, but he’ll help.

Good player, always rated him. But to similar to Adel imo, maybe not were our priorities should lie?

Never rated him and nothing like as good as Taarabt imo. Still, if he comes, I'll look forward to being proved wrong!

Oh dear,he never really got many games because hes a very average player. No pace,a bit of skill and apart from the occasional wonder goal, hes no better than Grenaro Faurlin. If we going for a CM,we need a big lump to marshal and win balls. Kranjaer needs sooo much time on the ball and will not win the ball back. My yids mate said he was ok 5 years ago,but will not make any difference to our team.

Akos mkll then? No thanks.

I think he is a massive upgrade to what we have and knows how to play in the EPL. Can play across the middle of the park and has more quality and (perhaps most importantly) goal threat than Granero, Faurlin, Mackie and SWP. Cant see him being a replacement for Adel who i expect will play off Remy as we know Harry loves a 4-4-1-1

You mean Remy play off Adel. Niko would be a good swap for Mackie, for sure. Just depends on the game, I suppose. May be Ale is gone. SWP is not leaving, Arry loves that kid. Granero may have something to prove, so may be competition would be good for him. At least Niko's a good shooter - remember how he destroyed England? We need that Niko.
