FF if you fail to learn from history you are doomed to repeat it. When you are onto something good you grab it with both hands. The grass isn't always greener
Deeply philosophical Proud but frankly a load of bollocks when applied in a footballing context ... fair play to Nigel Pearson it's all going very well and I hope it continues ... but if we applied your 'grabbing' principle evenly, surely we'd have sacked him when it all went doggy doo last season? ... as I've said before he has achieved nothing yet ... and promotion itself will only be a start ... I hope he goes on to prove that he can manage in the Prem successfully and also with us ... but I don't think anybody will be attempting to prise him away from us just yet ... but I totally respect your bromance in the meantime
FF i have back NP throughtout. Even through our bad run last season. There my opinions, if you want to disrespect them thats you call. Neither of our opinions are right or wrong.
Proud - I agree with your point on opinions - but I haven't disrespected yours, unless you class a gentle ribbing for your obvious affection for Nigel as such? - I've merely pointed out that your regard for his abilities seem based more on a mixture of hope and expectation than anything that has actually been achieved at this point in time ... I also take into account that, for you, he's almost certainly the best Leicester City manager you've experienced as you are a lot younger than me and, I seem to recall, were not that old during the Martin O'Neil era ...
Everyone has hope and expectation from their side/manager, and Pearson is in some ways marmite to the fans, some get carried away (we're going up) while others like to sit heavily on the negatives (it will all go downhill again in Feb). Im fully on board the Pearson bus for what he has achieved here and thinks he deserves a huge amount of credit for the direction he has taken the club in, promotion or not this season.
Ian Stringer ‏@StringerSport 34s Pearson on contracts "I'm hopeful we can get some of the situation resolved. It's a balancing act in terms of the financial side"
I think we are ALL hopeful. Those of us who have supported LCFC for many years have known the highs and lows so many times. The highs are more memorable! Personally, I thought Pearson should have gone last season, but he has done a very good job so far this season, and built a team spirit, the likes of which I haven't seen since MO'N. The hopefulness that I have is that he has learnt from last season, not play players out of position, and continue the good work he has started so far this season, and when we do have a mini slump will have the knowhow to come out of it. I am impressed with him so far this season - credit due etc
A good and fair post Wizard. My 'reservations' are based on the inability to pull us out of the slump for so long last season and also his tactics iin crunch games (play-off semis) where we have come off second best - but he is relatively 'young' in managerial terms and hopefully has learned from the experiences ... credit where credit is due - I've been very impressed with our general team play overall this season but also by the signings that have provided adequate (and experienced) cover for most positions ... we've set a benchmark for others to catch and hopefully can forge on and away ... hopefully the acid test for Nigel will be demonstrating that he can manage in the Prem next season.
The best way to prove that you can get out of a slump is not to get into it, sofar so good! Though you could say that losing to Wednesday and Brighton may have started a slump, but since those games we've got 13 points out of a possible 15
