What rules? I'm sure I've heard PB say it too. It's something everyone liked to say about JB ('why buy a player who can't be insured?') but was never actually relevant because no one was insured.
I think it's fair to say 99% of people here hadn't even considered the concept of insuring players until JB. Then again, somebody suggested my parents should consider insuring me when I played as a youngster. What they were insuring against I'll never know.
I've no idea what insurance cover, in any, we have at the club, but it's normal for a Premier League player to have insurance for five years earnings in the event of a career ending injury. I remember reading about the pay-out Callum Davenport would have got when he was stabbed, should he never have played again... ‘All players should have about five times their annual salary in insurance cover against a career-threatening injury. That is what any financial advisor or agent in the field should be recommending. So in Calum’s case, he could receive up to £3.9m if he has the correct cover. Our policy would pay out, even if the injury was the result of a criminal act, but each insurance is different and a player would have to check the small print.’ Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...abbed-legs-race-row-sister.html#ixzz1wQXu2z4w
