Where is Charlie? He seems to have gone awfully quiet on here lately. Wonder why! He's lucky no1 has started a "how did you do today in your championship match against peterborough" thread on their board (a la http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/159216-Shrewsbury?highlight=shrewsbury)
How would Nigel know if the owners are talking to Harry or anyone else? Stringer is asking a question to Nigel, knowing full well what answer he will get and what reaction it will get from Nigel.
"Ian Stringer‏@StringerSport I've tried, they declined - RT @countyfox: Andy Gray & co talkin about NP&HR. Pls get an interview with Top, put these silly rumours to be" Slightly worrying. Maybe there is something to it.
Hopefully. They have taken themselves out of the media spotlight a lot compared to when they first took over.
Exactly. Why treat these rumours with an credence? Radio Leicester never has in the past. In 1998, The Sun ran with a story that O'Neill WAS the new Leeds manager. Yet there he was, leading us to the League Cup in 2000. RL barely mentioned it. No coincidence that they also had a great relationship with O'Neill. Papers make stuff up to sell copies. The fans knows this, the local media used to know it. Why run the risk of potentially wrecking the relationship between the owners and the manager with crap like this, while putting Pearson on the spot live on air? It's gutter journalism. I don't want to hear Pearson speak about these stories. I want to see them instantly dismissed like I have already done.
Well I see Stringer has someone believing. Why should they want to speak about this? It's paper gossip.
Personally I wouldn't want my chips to be wrapped in newspaper these days - they'd taste of bullshit Oh and x-factor
It's not so much that I believe it, I just wouldn't put it past our owners to do something like this. It's been mentioned that there's murmerings within the club to the same ends which worries me more.
I never mentioned insanity but they allowed Sven to spend a small fortune then gave him the boot after a couple of months. Hardly through most rational of decisions given what they had invested and the change in playing staff that summer.
I know you didn't mention insanity, I was shortcutting, as getting rid of Nige now would be insane. Sven had a year, not a few months. I think they allowed Sven to spend because they wanted to get out of this division in their first season. I think they know they won't be to optimise the selling of the Leicester City brand in Asia unless we're in the top flight. They got in what they perceived as a top manger, or at least Manadric did on their behalf, and allowed him a generous kitty. Sven screwed up big time and paid the price. We could have allowed him until the end of last season to see if there was a slight chance of recovering the season (it was highly unlikely that we would have got promoted after sacking him), but I believe that we wouldn't be in the position we are now under Nige if the owners hadn't acted when they did. All in all, I can understand the thinking of the board in everything they've done so far. I would be shocked and outraged if we replaced Nige with Redknapp.
Sven signed Beckford on 31st of August, he was sacked at the end of October, so you could argue he had 2 months with 'his team'. In hindsight it was the right decision but it seemed rash to me at the time after letting him bring so many new players, that's all. Anyway enough of this, we're flying, NP's doing a cracking job and long may it continue.
