Makes a change for the brexiteers then.

Shooting ourselves in the foot economically to give us record immigration which is why most voted for it. What a legacy for the brexiteers

Mind you....as I've said in some of my earlier posts....I'm suspicious of certain posters....lined up with others in their media loop.....it seems they have an agenda to try to instigate some kind of control. Nasty and unwelcome.

Sounds like some serious stuff going on ...

... who'd have thought a little football chat forum could be such a web of intrigue.

Yet more focus from you on the economy, rather than the cultural/social impact.

There you go again, what has brexit got to do with record immigration when 90% were legal, just a cowardly incompetent polical establishment that are scared stiff to stand up to CS unions.

Having to get an electronic Visa by giving biometric data, being limited to 90 days in any 180 day period, no right to work in the EU is ALL to do with Brexit. Losing freedom of movement was clear and voted for by anyone in favour of Brexit.
Just name-calling with "remoaner" does not change facts.

You can still work in an EU country as far as I am aware since my mate's daughter works and lives in Germany (think it's an EU country), only moved there 2 years ago. Just think if the one of the most hated PM's even hated by Palestinians had made a better deal when FOM was discussed

You can but it's not easy and you have to ask permission which isn't automatic ...

... in the EU you had the right to work and travel wherever you chose.

It's made a big difference to me tbh.

I am sorry for people that wanted to stay and lost out but before anyone shouts Farage, I have been against the EU since well before people knew who he was. I was a supporter of the metric martyrsince the 90s. Bring back common market and would vote to rejoin.

I know quite a few who voted for it out of spite for Cameron! People who had little to no interest in politics and don’t normally vote, heard a PM being very cocky and assured that “nobody will vote for that”. Had Cameron run a sensible, planned campaign around brexit, and accepted that some may want to leave, instead of telling people (as I saw it) that they’re idiots for wanting to leave (whether he’s right or not), he probably would’ve won it and brexit wouldn’t have happened (as the margins were that small)

If you tell someone you’re right and that’s the only way it can be, there’s always going to be a select few who say “screw your thoughts”

And it was all our future PMs doing.,

Old fashioned lefties (Tony Benn etc) were always against the EEC
Seeing it as a cover for big business to screw the workers wages/rights and make profits/dividends for shareholders

I liked this breakdown of Reform's tax plan's, posted on another thread...

    Analysis of Reform's tax plans
    24th Jun 2024
    Press Story

The tax cuts announced in Reform's manifesto are both substantial and highly regressive, benefiting the wealthiest households the most. Our analysis of each tax change individually reveals the distribution of benefits across different income groups.

Breakdown of tax policies and their impact:
    Increase in the tax-free allowance:

    Current allowance: £12,570
    Proposed allowance: £20,000
    Cost for 2024-25: £41bn
Poorest 20 per cent of households: An increase of £380 in average annual household disposable income
Richest 20 per cent of households: An increase of £2400 in average annual household disposable income
Distribution of benefits: 32 per cent of the tax break goes to the richest 20 per cent of households
Increase in the higher income tax threshold:

    Current threshold: £50,270
    Proposed threshold: £70,000
    Cost for 2024-25: £18bn
Poorest 20 per cent of households: An increase of just £17 in average annual household disposable income
Richest 20 per cent of households: An increase of £2700 in average annual disposable income
Distribution of benefits: 80 per cent of the tax break goes to the richest 20 per cent of households

These tax breaks provide minimal benefits to lower-income households while significantly increasing the disposable income of higher-income households. Raising the tax-free allowance marginally benefits the poorest households but overwhelmingly favours the richest, who receive more than six times the increase. Raising the higher income tax threshold almost exclusively benefits the wealthiest households, leaving the poorest unaffected.
I will give Starmer another year to sort it.

It would be amusing to see Faridge as PM. He wants to be Trump, but he doesn’t have the corrupt Supreme Court to allow him to be a dictator. He can’t sit at home firing off propaganda. He would have to appear before MP’s every week and explain his actions on national tv.
Rounding up people of colour and deporting them is not an option in the UK.
Sending troops into opposition cities is not an option.
Sadly he’s got more momentum than stodgy Starmer and useless Badenough.

If Farage became PM and started to implement Trump like policies, he will be in for a shock. Unlike the American public for some reason seem to be going along with it, through gritted teeth...but very little resistance. In the UK I feel the general public will have more balls. I could see a general strike, daily protests etc etc.... Us Brits just won't put up with that s hit

Just been reading about it on sky or bbc and saying it is a aspiration for if they win the election and will target cost cutting first. What this country needs is a dose of productivity improvements, especially cs. My aspiration would be full time worker on miners wage being tax free allowance.
