Pretty much a done deal from what I am reading.
Scored 12 goals in 26 games last season, not bad, and at 21 is very young too.
Gotta love Spain's insistence on putting release clauses in their players contacts too, since we are getting him for around £30m which is cheap these days, relatively speaking.

All in all, not a bad signing, considering we dont have European football next season to entice a bigger name.
Now we just need to sort out offloading some of the crap we have.

Also looks like we arent in for a keeper this summer, Poch wants to keep Kepa. Ugh!
I mean he can do a job, and GK isnt a priority I guess

Don’t know anything about this player, but hope he’s better than mediocre. We have more than enough of those. Can’t understand why we’re not spending everything on what we need , a top quality reliable striker, instead of yet more “promising” youngsters. Not putting this guy down, but he’s not yet what we need.

Its the market.
Yes there are a few great strikers available but with having spent half a billion on trash in the last two windows and having no CL football to offer players next season, the chances of us landing Mbappe, Kane or Osimhen are virtually nil right now. And those three are the only big name strikers available at the moment.
Personally I feel Osimhen, at the price we would have to pay, (£100m +) would be a huge risk on what is, right now, a one season wonder. And the last thing we need is more costly flops on the books.
Kane is PL proven and might be cheaper but Spurs would never sell him to us, unless we were to pay over the odds. And Man Utd or Real Madrid both look like far more attractive options for Kane right now.
Mbappe, he would cost a fortune and would be a big name, and it could either be an awesome signing, or Fernando Torres 2.0. And at the price tag he would have on him, we just cannot afford to risk it on one player.

Nkunku has finally been confirmed and if this Jackson kid is half decent, we can hopefully start scoring some goals again.

What do you think about Broja?? He’s always being touted as up & coming but even before his injury he never did much.
Poch has a reputation for improving youngsters and we have a young Italian kid Casadiri( or similar) who topped the scoring in the under 20s recently. Maybe one of them could come through?? Then theres that other Fofana striker too. Seems developing strikers is not our strong point.

Aye it never has been really.
Not since Jimmy Greaves!
I mean, Broja could work out, but do we risk our whole season on him? Does Poch rest his job on him?
He hasnt shown me anything to blow me away, he seems okay, when he can stay fit, but not sure we want to go into the season with him as our main striker!

"Not since Jimmy Greaves!"
Ahem! Drogba! Before that Kerry Dixon, JFH, Anelka, we used to be good at getting strikers.
None of those strikers came through our Youth academy.
I was talking about developing academy strikers.
Obviously we have had some awesome strikers over the years, but not since Greaves have we developed an awesome one.

The club, the academy, whatever.
Chelsea was his first club.
You miss the point Bod. It's like you were saying we never had a decent striker since Greaves, and the reference to Jimmy coming through the academy is just fantasy, yes we were his first club and he has on record stated his favourite club. Yet, defining decent, as in striker is relative to the opposition we were facing at the time. Dixon and Speedie were decent against the opposition they were up against as were the aforementioned. Kane was at Chelsea did he come through our academy, he was there at one time in history. Carefree Bod.

No it isnt. I am saying what I am saying, not what you think I am saying

Again, two players who Chelsea signed in their 20's and had played over 100 league games for other clubs before coming to Chelsea. And I am missing the point?

What?

Well whoevers right , we still dont have a headline striker!
We also sold kova for 25mill to City and are talking 50 to 80 to buy in a midfielder. Am I missing something or do City know something we don’t ??

Not sure if he necessarily needs to be headline, many an unknown player has come to the PL and turned out to be awesome.
Who'd heard of N'Golo Kante or Miyad Mahrez before Leicester signed them, and the only thing I knew of Suarez when he came to Liverpool was that time he hand balled to stop a goal at the world cup and got sent off.
Maybe Jackson will be the next Drogba!

I am just deluding myself aint I?

Replying to a comment about having difficulty signing/developing strikers.

No not signing, just developing. Signing strikers wasn't mentioned, you keep adding that part in.

Bod, you do not develop strikers, it is inherent, like a natural ability born unto them. A talent that can not be taught, born with it.
As a former golden boot winner, I can confirm this post is correct.

You may not be able to convert someone with no striker instincts into Pele, but I know you can significantly improve someone who is instinctive into a good striker, sometimes into a great one. That’s what great coaches do across all positions, not just strikers. Apart from Chelsea it seems, our strikers misfire or go backwards, certainly in the last 10 or so years.

Then that is still the fault of our academy scouts for not finding the ****ers :D
