He's the smartest guy in the club. He gets paid to speak English for someone who already speaks English.
If they are doing that then they must be wrong. If I own something of value I am not going to make decisions on its future which will harm it, even if it is my intention to sell it sooner or later. With a social responsibility, if I feel that I do not have the knowledge or the interest to progress a major professional football club, then the least I will do is make sure that when I sell it for a good price, that it goes to an enthusiastic and capable new owner who will do what I cannot. On the question of Cortese or Liebherr. Purely from my own selfish perspective, I would have preferred Nicola Cortese to have remained in place if, for nothing else, that I knew with some certainty of his plans and vision for Southampton FC, which were to be progressive and successful. Now it is undeniably less clear, although as I said, I don't think for a second that Katherina will do anything to harm SFC.
Le Tissier saying he's heard that Cortese and Sunseeker are teaming up to make a move for the club. I'm not sure he will have heard it from anywhere massively different to us, but hey ho.
Interesting! Do you know if Cortese, having resigned from SFC, still holds any directorships or executive position with any of the Liebherr companies. If he has resigned all of these then this could be a possibility if not then his position to engineer such a scenario is untenable?
Cortese left his directorship with one MALI company in March, one in the summer, and three more in October, I believe. He has no directorships or executive positions within any of the Liebherr businesses.
Now we know that players aren't being sold and Mauricio is at least finishing this season, I've recovered quite well from the loss of Nicola. I think it is more to do with my tendency to see the glass as half full. I need Katharina to be a good thing, so in my brain that is how I see her. God, I'm shallow.
Indeed, chairman is Wang Jianlin - China's richest man. Jianlin is worth about £8.6bn alone. Has outlined his plans for social projects, has a budget of around five billion for it. His money is largely from hotels, cinemas, shopping centres... etc. Real estate. Is reported to be looking at a football club, and is looking to buy up other assets in the western world. Has spoken to Villareal and Valencia recently, but also looking at relocating Sunseeker to Southampton. Is building a landmark hotel on the banks of the River Thames and is looking at the old Ford joint in Southampton too.
Doing a bit of sleuthing yesterday, and it appears that the rumour isn't entirely new...I can find references to either Sunseeker or Dalian Wanda buying Saints at Cortese's behest before Cortese left the club. Not from places with even the slightest bit of credibility, mind (we're talking comments on the Echo from late 2013 and the like), but someone has been putting the rumour about before it was obvious that we might be getting new ownership. As mentioned, as far as spurious rumours go, it's one that makes a fair bit of sense.
Sunseeker didn't want to put their hands deeper in their pockets to become shirt sponsors in pre-season... so might be a big leap to their owner now wanting to buy the club.
True, but Saints (Cortese) was wanting a "bigger" company last summer and touted the shirt sponsorship around a few companies, including Sunseeker. They would buy out aap3's last year of the contract, which I believe aap3 were ok about.
Well I'm certainly not making a judgment on her. I know nothing about her and she hasn't done anything yet at the football club for me to judge. Well, maybe convince a manager to stay for now; let a former player back to the ground and tell us no-one is being sold.... that's not a bad start though.
