i remember when i began to like Cortese so much - it was around the turn of the year when he did the interview with the BBC, he spoke to positively about the club and said things with such conviction that you just knew how much he meant it, he said we wouldnt sell AOC in that window (we didnt then, but what a deal we did get). i was well on my way to liking adkins already by then and could see that although pardew built the team he made it better. as has been said Nic has delivered on things he said he would do and from the start they operated the club as a business - the way these days you need to - therefore no rash decisions, long term planning ALWAYS in their thoughts. plus how many players that have signed for us have talked about the vision that Nic set out in front of them? every single one has listened to this and said "sign me up!" (i still want to see the video steve de ridder was shown!). the constant talk of the vision gives yuo confidence no-one is going anywhere at the moment and everything will be done right. his cool composure and sharp suits also lend themselves to the nickname of "the don" which is always bound to be seen as cool. i mean no one likes to be on the end of a mafia boss's wrath but you dont half want him on your side - which we are. in NC I trust and i am so glad so many follow this opinion too. man it feels good to write these words after all the sh*te weve put up with.
I said on a previous thread that Don Cortese as Chairman was the best thing to happen to the Club for 30 years, but I was shot down by someone, because he said that "he is only a Chairman". There were many things that could have gone wrong at the start of his tenure as Chairman, but he surrounded himself with the right people and made some crucial decisions that have proved to be good ones. He has now earnt our trust and it is great to see all Saints fans behind him after the damaging disunity of the Lowe/Wilde years.
The moment I really put my backing in Cortese was when he put himself on the front cover of the match day programme against Leeds. The Man, The Legend, THE DON!
