Go back to when the current sponsor took over and you'll find a lot of people give a toss. It's amazing how many older shirts we've been seeing at games since then. It's also relevent to income, ie he's pointed out if we get promoted we're going to go back to them and try to get them to drop the deal so we can get more money off someone else, and being relelvent to income means it's relevent to our budget for wages and transfer fees.
I think new ST holders will have taken up the unclaimed seats so current ST holders will not be able to move. Jessie J said "it"s not about the money".I think the sale fest going on disproves this and no consideration to the long standing fans. I hope I am wrong . The people near me would like me to move.**** em.
If its the case as I fear I will go in that ticket office and kick off big time. So be wary if your planning on collecting match day tickets as there will be a rather long wait
Manchester United dropped the football club from their badge, which now just has Manchester United onit in order to create a brand not so long ago so anything is possible. Wasn't a popular move from what I can remember, at least amongst proper United fans from Manchester.
If they want to drop the FC or AFC off the logo, I'm fine with that. People should know we're a football Club and the logo should flow through the product range, even if it's not football related. Hull City is who we are, the football Cub bit should be self evident. Calling it something else for marketing is something I don't understand. Calling us Hull Tigers is just wrong, ****e and naff. In your manchester example, can you imagine if they were marketed as Manchester Devils? That sounds like a parachute display team.
I'm confident our FLAG reps will back up fans feelings loud and clear at the meeting on 4th May. Tidying up logo's etc for Marketing is one thing. Tradition is tradition and the club shouldnt mess with that. Also worth noting that Nick Thompson describes himself as "MD Hull City Tigers" on his Hull City Fans Group, Linked In profile.
What time you planning to get there? I'll bring some popcorn and look out for the bloke who sounds like David Icke on acid
There was some stuff they did where it just said United. Of course as far as they are concerned there is only one United. No doubt deluded Leeds fans will think if you just say United people all around the world will think of them. At least we have had our nickname from the early 1900s. Manchester United only got that nickname courtesy of Matter Busby, who nicked it from the Salford rugby club as he thought the Busby Babes didn't sound intimidating enough.
As much as I hate having cash converters on the shirt, we can have it on there forever as long as they dont **** with our name. I'd accept dropping the afc bit but we need to keep it as Hull City at the very least. Hull Tigers is utter bollocks.
It's certainly something that's growing amongst the younger element. in some ways it's possibly more appropriate than just "City" as I often use Hull Tigers, is just a non-starter in my opinion though. kill it before it starts.
I don't know anyone who wouldn't just call us City while discussing us locally. I'd maybe say I was a Hull fan if I wasn't local, as barely anyone outside of the local area would assume I was talking about a rugby league team, so would assume I meant Hull City(though that would usually be people in London, rather than anyone further up the M62, where I'd probably be more specific).
You'd think in a city that had already seen and laughed one its local teams rebranding itself as Hull Sharks before then humiliatingly doing a u turn and using its original name of Hull FC, that the same mistake wouldn't be made twice. Wouldn't you..... ? We invented football here in Britain, the whole world knows this and envies us this heritage. Newell's Old Boys, Corinthians, Antwerp etc all lovingly preserve and cherish their British connection- their priceless link to the Home of Football. So what do we do ? We try and copy some crass Septic or Aussie marketing ploy, thinking it will pull in a new sophisticated discerning customer and grow our brand. WRONG.
In which circumstances? If someone from another city asks me who I support I would either say Hull City or maybe Hull as we don't have two football teams in Hull. But I would never say to a local I am going to watch Hull on Saturday, it would be City. I guess the same is true of people in other cities with only one team, like Leeds or Newcastle.Only places like Sheffield would they say United or Wednesday and not Sheffield, when talking to fans from elsewhere.

****ing hell, I can't believe people are actually worrying that they're going to change the name. What on Earth would they have to gain? Also, is it really that big an issue that we have Cash Converters on the front of our shirts? It's not like it's Vagisil or Wonga or funkypidgeon.com. I've never had any grief about the sponsor while wearing this seasons City shirt, why would I? As for naming, I just say Hull City. If I'm at home I'll say City, which of course isn't a problem.
