They're allowed to give preference to those of their own faith and set their own selection agenda, but they have to admit other pupils if they can't fill all of their places with the indoctrinated. The idea that anyone can go to them is laughable.
That's another whole load of bullplop. The only way they'll give 'preference to their own faith' is if the school is over prescribed. Imagine that - giving preference to the pupils the school was built for, if places are restricted
You've not given a single reason why my opinion is bigoted and their results are better because they hand pick the students, which has been shown in recent studies. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1536310/Faith-schools-pick-the-best-pupils.html The idea that parts of the religion aren't taught is probably true, as there are distinctly ugly parts of every religion that I've ever seen, but the sinful, broken nature of man is key to Christianity. It's not possible to airbrush it out and keep the message intact. As I said earlier, Northern Ireland's a great example of where a segregated education gets you. Keeping kids apart based purely upon faith is as bigoted as it gets. I want them shut because they're bigoted, not because I am.
Using NI in any argument to support your point, unless you're discussing utter *****ism, is an epic fail. Ya bigot.
Yep, imagine excluding children from the selection process because of their faith. How could anyone call that bigoted?
I have no idea whether this is true or not to be honest PNP - I know a fair few non catholics that went to or go to catholic schools but that doesn't necessarily mean that anyone can get in. Anwyay, even as a catholi who attended a catholic school I do think they can encourage bigotry even if unintentionally so. A lot of people who wouldn't dream of setting foot in a church do o in order to get their kids into a catcholic school purely and simply so that the kids don't have to mix with Asian and black kids or anyone else who doesn't speak the queen's english or look like their little darlings.. Funnily enough the tables have turned goodand proper as half the kids there now are Polish and romanian Note to Maltese Mick - para 2 is not in any way aimed at you as the situation in IoM is going to be a million miles different to that in London.
It's proddys though, so they're fair game. You site NI as an example as to why individual faith schools don't work - the fact is, they work in Scotland, England and Wales - does that not say more about the queerhawk prods NI than anything else?
He's talking ****, Dan, re the anyone can't go there - only one school, that's right, one school, has ever had to turn away pupils not of the faith due to numbers. It was an exception - not a rule.
someone's happy today! You looking forward to Cheltenham then Eddie? Have booked the whole week off so cannot ****ing wait.
It's the way most people see it, most normal people. If the local Muslim/proddy school had the best academic record, it's where I'd want my imaginary CATHOLIC children to go. They'd get their catholic RE at chapel on a Sunday and at home.
