Was at school with him. Whatever he supported as a lad, he has he city at heart. I think a lot of us wore different kits as a nipper! It's odd that he details haven't leaked yet, despite the confidentiality clauses. I like the way a lot of people here hint that they know something... If they did they would blab. Funny.
i also believe that he was quite a handy hockey player at Kelvin. I think he also had opportunities in that respect. PS, does anyone not know Jeff? He is the the local football equivalent of Rugby's Johnny Whiteley. Who doesn't know Jeff?
As a kid,i reckoned to be a Liverpool fan, and then i decided i was a Celtic fan(they wore green and white hoops, the same as my school rugby team),then i moved on to Newcastle utd, then Arsenal, and then i don't know,Aston Villa. I either liked certain players, or i liked the look of a clubs kit. I was a kid ffs. My dad took me to city for the first time, when i was 8 years old. He tells me it was Leyton Orient, i don't remember. Most of the other boys at school supported Leeds, Liverpool ect, so maybe it was peer pressure, but i kept on swapping allegiance every month or so. How did i become a Hull city fan ? I grew up,that's all. I realised that to support your home town club, actually meant something, i felt it in my gut. Nick Barmby was a kid once.
I was only messing around given the vitriol on here reserved for rugby fans that support another football team. Ultimately it doesn't matter how you come to support your local team the only thing that matters is that you do.
Met the bloke a few times and know a couple of people who know him very well. Basically he calls it the way he see's it and doesn't give a toss what people think. Okay, he is into egg chasing but at the end of the day, when he pulled on any shirt he gave 100% and hated anybody who didn't do the same. That's one of the reasons he wanted to tear bullard a new arsehole.
In that case, my dad probably taught you. He taught loads of people I come across from Kelvin. Andy Dalton reminds me every so often that my dad taught him Sex Ed even.
I have a team photograph of him as a mascot for the Ex-Tigers when he was about six and Nicky was wearing a Hull City replica kit.
To be fair Leyton Orient was my first ever game to. I never didn't support Hull City, at the age of four my Dad says i was checking teletext to see the Hull City score but i didn't go to my first game until i was give and from then on i was always a Hull City fan.
As a kid I grew up supporting Hull City. We were a mid table third division team at the time. No-one of my generation 'supported' another football club. We all also supported Hull RLFC and Hull KR. That stopped when Hull FC did the dirty on us and rebranded themselves Hull's Premier Club etc etc. I grew up in the 60's before football was all over the television. I remember kids starting to cling onto the shirt tails of Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester United from the early 70's which also coincided with Hull City's demise.
I wasn't bragging fella , Jeff owned my local newsagent when I lived down Fairfax before moving in with me Grandma on 21st. When I bump into him or his Mrs when I'm in Hull we exchange pleasantries and have a catch up , never said he was on my Christmas card list. I was just saying..... No wonder I don't post often....
Three points. 1. Don't take any notice of MRH, he's a proper bell end. 2. I don't know Jeff, why would I? This is aimed at MRH, not you. 3. You post more than me and I'm on here too much.
