Could be a bit of mind games to put some pressure on Tottenham.

Maybe. I do think think there is a genuine admiration though, in the Man U camp. I heard Rooney say similar things about the quality of Spurs football a while back in an interview. Apparently, he and some of the other players enjoy watching our games in particular.

Spurs look good, especially considering how poor they were in their 1st few matches. I think they will finish 4th this season and grab the final Champions League place.

It is reassuring that we haven't looked like losing since those fist two matches, when we had no Parker, Modric, or Ade. (Even when we er.. lost, didn't really look like we were going to, if that makes sense.)

Fergie knoew Spurs have been quiet, the media have left them alone as well funnily enough.

With attention to their position they will feel extra pressure, exactly what Fergie wants, it shows he is concerned by their challenge a little anyways:)

Start of last season I said Parker would be good for spurs and got ridiculed by Spurs fans, old, not what we need ect ect, and now look at the evaluation of him.

Always aquality midfielder that just made the wrong choice going to Chelsea when he did.

What it is is a rare moment of Ferguson speaking the truth.

Sir Alex has a lot of times for players and managers.

Trouble is he has little time for the media. So armchair football fans seem to have this perception of him as a crotchety old bloke spewing bile to the media when in fact no manager does more to help out, give advice to, or praise others.

Very true. He treats with media with contempt but not rival Managers and players.

Probably more likely an effort to shift focus away from Utd. SAF likes the focus to be elsewhere in December - lets us quietly accumulate points and get in a good position without other teams recognising us as a thread until it's too late. He's trying to make sure the focus is on City possibly stumbling, and Spurs going strong.

That said, Spurs are looking good right now - they've shown a lot more mental strength and ability to get results this season. You can't rule out a team that could be four points off the top at this stage, if they win their game in hand.

This flattery from Ferguson is just his mind games to try and make us become complacent, he knows we are a real threat but also knows we are relatively new to a title race.

Our players may well read his flattering comments and think that they are world beaters and subsequently take their foot off the gas.
