Don't really get the fuss about an away kit. It's not like we have set away colours we always use. Over the last few years we've had yellow, black, blue and white. Another colour used for an away kit really doesn't matter.
Green is a strange colour for us, but quite frankly, after all they've done, the board could have the team in mankinis for all I care.
Afraid I have to draw the line at mankinis. Don't think we would play very effective in them either. I wouldn't want to change the kit colors just for a sponsor. But if it's a deeper relationship, then I wouldn't mind. If, for example we actually do end up with a link to Seattle Sounders, it would make sense to wear their colors (and I assume they would wear ours away). And that would be sort of a coup for us, as they have the biggest and most devoted (and possibly most annoying) fanbase in MLS. Their average attendance is 45k.
Ah but which of the 20 different types of grass is it like though. That's the question. Will the players be invisible at the Library, the theatre of silence, or The bridge next season?
Linking with an MLS club this early is a very wise move. The fanbase in US & Canada is expanding at a ridiculous rate and capitalising on this sooner rather than later could give our club a strong foothold in the American countries. You just have to look at Man City's link with New York City FC to see the potential benefits - greater exposure, increased fanbase, potential merch sales etc. I genuinely see the MLS breaking into the top 5 leagues in the world in the coming years and I'd love to see Saints get in on the ground floor.
I have several US colleagues who now "track" Saints.... amazing how many emails or messages I get after our games now. No, it's ok Ralph, no thanks needed ... just doing my bit.
I did panic when I looked on the OS just now... the first thing was some kids at the Veho academy, in what looked like Sunderland kits
I agree, I have just come back from the states after 2 weeks and when asked who I support, I expected no one to know. I was surprised by the amount of people who knew us and even knew who Ronald was
