I think Neville is right; Lovren was too focused on Kane. That second goal was a perfect example

He’s just Not a good defender full stop. Arguably one of the worst defenders this club has signed. We have to sell him because he’s a rotten apple and is poisonous to this defence.

Obviously, replacing him alone won’t fix the underlying issues but he’s arguably the single biggest contributing factor.

We need to focus on attacking.

If we had scored 5 goals we would have won.

I genuinely don't thin he's that bad but he has been terrible for us. Maybe it's just a mentality issue; can't cope with the high pressure demands of a club like Liverpool?

One thing for sure, his times up!

Yeah it was pure panic. The others are the same. There's no unit there, no team to help each other along

    ^^ This

all good defences act a a whole where as we act as 4 individuals one of which is normally a minimum of 30 yards in advance of his supposed position .

yes. I mean if the two cbs at least acted like they were in it together as well it'd be decent. they are far too far apart IMO. one slip and someone is in on the keeper.

then the keeper is not talking to the two cbs and keeping them straight and then henderson does whatever he wants.

My view is klopp needs to pull in his head and think right.. i need to park two cms in front of these two now.. can on the end of a cross as most advanced man? milner not able to live with son as last cm?
    this has to stop.

Sure the reason at least 3 of our standard back 4 try to "steal" the ball instead of holding their position is they don't trust the others to be doing their jobs correctly and holding position.

the other answer is , of course, that they are instructed to try and jump in to steal the ball.

Yeah I am coming to that view. I think they know if they don't get it first then theres no support at all coming.

Give Gomez and Karius/Ward a proper run of games now. We will not benefit from continuing to use Migs and Lovren. Both are ‘senior’ players who have had plenty of time to improve but still make basic errors.

It’s time for this club to be ruthless with **** players. Standards have dropped so much - we have Jordan Henderson as our captain ffs. Enough is enough.

Not sure about putting Gomez in. Throwing him in the deep end with a defence like this could kill his career before its even got going!

I don't think any of the keepers are good enough so I don't care what happens there.

Edit; what about a full swing in defence? TAA at rb, Matip & Gomez in the middle with Robertson at lb...?

Funny how the natural lb klavan was ignored isn't it :emoticon-0143-smirk

I reckon personally a 343 or 4231 formation is required to tighten this up
For me i'd probably bottle it a bit and go 343

    Ward
    gomez Matip Klavan
    TAA Henderson Can Robertson
    Salah firmino Coutinho

That puts in a bit of width, tells the two gobshites in the middle to ****ing stay back and puts matip centre of the three at back... he should then sweep up for the other two.

I'd drop firmino the moment mane is back.....

ward in cos i've seen karius and sorry he is NEVER going to make it. he is worse than mingolet.

I say bottle it as i stuck klavan in at LCB so gomez just has to mind his side and stay back. The 3 cbs should stick close to each other and that closes a few gaps. OR i shoudl say it puts the gaps in wide areas.

I think we could scare a few sides up with that formation for a few weeks til someone finds us out.

If going 343, I'd move Can back. He excelled in the RCB role under Brod
