Anyone but Hughton, McKay and Lennon. And Allardyce. Preferably someone who plays football our way but who knows, it's a lottery!
Gerardo "Tata" Martino. I reckon Barcelona to Saints is a step up career wise Someone has probably already been offered the job which could be why Jason Dodd and Paul Williams got the sack. Part of the job spec is to continue with developing talent rather than buying it. The new manager probably wants his own people in if he has to do this.
Surprised Eddie Howe hasn't been mentioned, think he would fit in well. Has anyone mentioned Di Canio yet....
Surely if you want stability in the academy you don't let the manager change the staff but have a core staff that develop and let the manager focus on the first team; you'd only then remove academy staff if no players good enough for the first team squad were produced
So the Cortese interview timing is now even more suspicious - almost as if he and Poch knew something we didn't Do we now shift the challenge to the board away from keeping Poch, and towards showing some ambition with his replacement? Or have we given up on that already? I'd still like to squeeze Lukaku out of the potential Shaw-to-Chelsea move (and hopefully get some cash out of it too) - it looks like he's not going to feature in Mourinho's plans. If Adam goes I'll still love him, and I'm optimistic about Ramirez and JWP stepping up, though we probably need to get someone else in. It is hard not to get depressed though isn't it, I was really looking forward to the World Cup at the end of the season...
Only repeating a rumour, but someone on SaintsWeb said that he'd been told that Dodd and Williams had been silly boys. Make of that what you will...their sacking was rather out of the blue. If based solely on performance, it would probably have been done differently....seems out of character for the new board to act like this. We will probably never know.
Blimey, this is the most depressing thread I can remember (apart from some stylish modding of course). Sadly looking at the options available/mentioned I sort of hope it'll be a leftfield, unknown appointment from the Albanian 5-a-side "soccer" league. Oh well, the World Cup will cheer us all up.
Some freelancer called Alex Smith on Twitter has apparently just spoken to Yakin about whether he'd want to come to Saints - "quotes tomorrow"......
