I believe it is pronounced Kooman rather than Koeman, but no doubt we will call him whatever suits us best with any chants that may be concocted. As long as we keep it respectful!
Let me try this... That's what it's like to be Pompey That's what it's like to be Poor You sign Awford, we sign Koeman... err.. OK, that doesn't work. That song's over and out.
That's what it's like to be Tottenham, never getting in the top four. You signed Mauricio, we signed Ronald Koeman, Ronald Koeman, Ronald Koeman... Thought this one was quite good.
With Wanyama as a deep midfielder playing a back three would not be much of change if that's the root Koeman would want to take us
That's the way I would play it, put Wanyama into the back 3 but slightly more advanced. Would be interesting to see.
3 at the back (with wing backs) can destroy teams in one off games (as we saw), I remember Hoddle using it when we beat Chelsea 5-1 in the cup, when it works, its a great system but Liverpool tried it this year and couldn't get out of their own half against the goons away, switched systems at half time and back in the game. Martinez also used it at Wigan and Bruce has used it at Hull. Maybe it will be used more in one-off games but can't see teams using it as there main system for the whole season (in the premier league).
It does seem more of a counter attacking system if you play with three central defenders. If you play possession football then I can see a team getting stuck in their own half and that would only be worse if the three defenders don't have the vision or passing ability to create attacks. You would need a couple of central defenders who are very good on the ball to play it regularly
True. Hope we keep them all, because everything else could be gone. The problem with 3 at the back is that we might not have 3 defenders left/
In Italy 3-5-2 is popular and a 5-3-2 can quickly turn into a 3-5-2! Just I think 5 at the back is viewed as being negative but really if you have quick attacking wing backs and centre backs (as you mention) then it can be an attacking system, especially if you grab an early goal as it forces the opposition to push out more, leaving them exposed to counter attacks.
COME ON LET'S GET IT DONE! "Personally Im excited about this appointment, it shows intent from Katharina Liebherr and her board to keep the club moving forward, in Koeman they have a manager who in most respects is superior to the man he replaced, Spurs supporters I have spoken to all seem to think they would have preferred Koeman as the manager of Spurs than Pochettino."
Really? With wanyama sitting deep just in front of the back four under Poch and the full backs tearing up the wing, that is pretty much what we had. If you watch the back line when Shaw and Clyne went forward, Lovren and Fonte visibly moved wider leaving a hole for wanyama to cover.
