It looks like we’re down. Not mathematically but anyone watching us these last few weeks will know the squad isn’t capable of staying up. Watching on I follow where the opponents tv channel is broadcast, the commentators couldn’t believe just how bad we were. Comments such as: “The easiest 3 points all season” and “This is the worst team we’ve played” are heard regularly. Of course, I hope I’m wrong about the relegation but I very much doubt it. Here’s my question: Will we be able to stay in div1 or will we go straight down to div 2 It’s not as improbable as it sounds. We are skint, worse in fact as we owe tens of millions and are apparently losing millions every month. If anyone offers £1 million for Asoro he will be sold. If anyone offers anything for any other player they will be sold. Our team will be the young’uns plus the ones nobody wants and we can’t get rid of. And Rodwell (who will probably be getting paid more than the whole team of our opponents will be getting paid) Div 1 teams such as Wigan and Blackburn would wallop us on our form. There are 2 ways we can have some hope. We get bought by a good new owner who invests a lot in the squad or Short puts shed loads into the club to try and get back up and then sell us. How likely do you think one of these will happen. More likely, Administration. No investment and possible relegation to div 2 Otherwise, a miracle. I was there the last time we went into div3 I doubt we will find another Gabbiadini this time.
I share your worries, we are well and truly up the creek without a paddle. Its anybodies guess what will happen. I fear that Administration is a distinct possibility now, and we need to be re-assured one way or another. Would an empty stadium get a statement out of them, maybe.
Administration is the big fear next season and would put us as favourites to go down again. Short putting large bucks into the club is just not going to happen. Selling the club could be our only route to salvation. Relegation would single a complete clear out of all the old stagers and we would be reliant on those young lads we are able to hang onto. We want to abandon loans and free agents as they have no alliance to the club and are just here to draw a wage. If CC stays then despite his limitations I admire his fortitude and think he could come good with his own team providing he actually gets the funds to put one together. This is worse than our last visit to the third tier and I really fear for our immediate future.
You're getting ahead of yourself Charley. One problem at a time mate. Plenty of time to start worrying about next season.
After 90 minutes research, I'd say we might just stay in Div 1 but who knows what other fallout is still yet to happen. If I recall correctly, the U23s lost at Doncaster Rovers earlier this season and Doncaster played a lot of their youngsters. I don't think our current first team would have beaten Doncaster tonight and they are mid-table. How about John Marquis? - he looked better than Fletcher. Oh and Simon Grayson is still without a win at Bradford.
Time will tell. The squad we have now is laughably bad but what the team will be for next season I have no idea. I just hope that when we recruit players in the future they're all over 6 foot and are strong and not painfully slow. That's all we need, our support will do the rest.
Can we keep Asoro, Mcgeady, Watmore etc. Borini and Khazri should have been back playing for us though and we might have had a chance.
Im thinking administration. For Short it makes financial sense where he can write of losses here for over there. The man is a ****
I’m not sure but I think the debt is to himself so he would lose out. I heard on radio newcastle that they’ve picked up on the point that Rodwell will be earning more than many of the whole teams we will be playing in div 1.
