    He's had a very **** personal life this year. Hope he gets that sorted and in not surprised that will have effected him on the pitch

    Too similar to VVD to be a great partnership. Both tall and like to play out from the back. Ideally you want VVD and a bruiser.

    That's the perfect pairing. Ferdinand being the baller and Vidic being the nutter.

    I think VVD is good all round and does the physical job very well, Matip is the real ball player to me. We'll soon see.

    He was tough when up for it but he wasn't always like that, I agree with you to a point.
    When he played Costa for example it brought out the beast in him.

    I think he's underrated by some because he's had a dick of a partner and needs someone good to play alongside him and we'll then see the best of him.

    You've obviously not seen much of VVD. I've not seen loads of him myself but I know he is fantastic on the ball. And he can take a freekick too!

    guys.... seriously... think aboit your ideal here. vvd is massive and brilliant in air. you let him go attack the ball and have a sweeper in behind him. nobody at the club is a sweeper. Matip is prob closest but there's no way I'd be saying lovren or Gomez to do that type role.
