I'm really please in the end. I was disappointed last week but after the way the other fella bottled it I think we have made the right choice.
Another example of "read the thread through in its entirety before being a smart ass"... you live and (don't) learn.
Yeah this, no reason to dislike the guy, has a good record up to this point, and isn't one of the journeymen knackers Ashley constantly brought in.
I can't believe the ****e Bruce said about Howe like. Bruce has got to be the worst appointment from a personality point of view in the Ashley era. On par with Joe Kinnear like, deffo.
Honestly buzzed off the idea of Howe - did an amazing job with Bournemouth and, really, was unlucky with the injuries they had the season they went down - stepped down shortly after but almost certainly would have had them back at the first attempt. Smart option as if we go down he's got the experience to stay on and bring us up and if we stay up he has progressed teams and clubs through the leagues while playing a good "brand" of football so could be a good long term appointment to drive us from relegation candidates to trying to break Europe - which is where I feel he may "find his level" but if he can keep us up and then push us towards the top 7 he will have done a fantastic job.
As an outsider looking in...you said if you go down he would bring you back up. But from what I've read in the past few days, any new manager would have a sack clause written into their contract if relegated.
There can be a clause but doesn't necessarily mean it'll be activated. I think the ownership would (and should) be thinking along these lines - been brutally honest so far and genuinely think we are destined to drop this year so as long as we go down swinging I'd keep him on.
If we beat Brentford we will look good to fight our way back out of trouble. We only need a few wins to pop out of the bottom three, the teams around us are also very poor
Personally think we need 12+ before Xmas to be in with a chance. I can see 7-9 in the next 4 games but after that we have December and that looks like a horrendous month. If we are close to 18-20points by Xmas I'll be more positive but currently the only hope I can see is we have a lot of "winnable" home games in the second half of the season and we could sign some decent players.
I think we'll be fine. The lack of certainty will have been a huge problem, and for a LONG time. Just getting Bruce out and Howe in will help so many players. Add a better gameplan, who knows what we can do. I cannot wait for this Brentford match.
