Well things are going to get interesting. I must admit i am in a state of cold observation now. Reason being that Arsenal could stick 10 past us and still parpoop won't go. I don't think it's going to be a good appointment either. What i expect is that we retain 10th by virtue of palace's games being tough. Parpoop will then be given another year to finish top 10 or maybe top 8, but there will be no change.

Until an even further weakened squad gets battered left rightt and centre and we're rock bottom by January... even Fatty will see his investment imploding at that stage.
Seriously though, if he's in place next season the key time will be January as the price freeze ST renewals (approx 55% of ST holders apparently) need to renew or cancel by the end of that month.
I can see lots of ST holders not renewing if we are in the clart then.

I grew up in Brum and I have a few relatives who support the blues and none are impressed with his style or his management.

Will always love Lee Clarke from his time as a player and mackem-winder-upper, and was impressed with his spell at huddersfield, but he has turned Birmingham into relegation fodder. Not sure what happened with him losing all of his backroom team too. I wouldn't think he'd be a good choice tbh.

In defence of Clark he hasn't had a bean to spend due to Carston Yeung tax thing. Still wouldn't want him here though.

What's this figure of 14,000 or so I keep seeing bandied about for not renewing THIS season?

Trouble is that a full ground with all its' benefits = £20m a season tops. Finishing 17th with a half empty ground = £60m+. It's about what's important and these next, say, 4 months are probably the most pivotal in our recent history. I can see a number of situations each with their own permutations:

    - Ashley decides he's going to give this an actual shot, sold £200m of shares to part fund the club's reinvention and already has a new manager lined up ready to go. A Summer spend of £50m+ happens in the hands of Remi Garde and in August we look a different club.
    - Ashley still couldn't give a monkeys chuff about it all and is currently unaware of the clubs situation, still contented that we sit in 9th. As we "plummet" to 11th, his only reaction is "last warning, Alan, you better finish 10th or better next year" and we get back on the merry go round again, replacing a few players and possibly adding a loanee to watch another dire season of Pards-inspired "beware the enemy" football.
    - Somewhere in the middle; Ashley is now on the board, closer to the club and is hoping for 11th as its clear even to him that Pardew's a fcking idiot. Upon finishing 11th, Parps is sacked and replaced with someone ok-ish, like Beardsley. A few bob is released and with a couple of loanees we at least play some football in embarking on another 8th-10th ambition.
    - Ashley's completely had enough, and hates the club and its' fans. He's in Florida seeking a yankee buyer, preferably with little/no credibility, so that he can asset strip the club, rinse as much cash out as he can then sell it for around £150m. As the sale's finally completed, we have about 17 hours of a window left to replace 9 first team players. New board/manager give it a shot, but by Xmas the damage is done and we're just a fairly wealthy Championship club, like QPR, with no guarantee of getting back up. Ashley posts his one and only communication stating "who's laughing now, bitches".

What I find possibly weirdest of all these situations is that Ashley sold, in shares, more money than he wants for the entire club, yet won't spend a bit of cash making said club better? If I didn't know better, I'd suggest Ashley is deliberately provoking pretty much everybody.

I think he's asset stripping personally. Why else would you run a club on a limited budget and not make a permanent signing? Joe Kinnear's incompetence has been banded about but people forget that it was Lee Charnley who was privy to those supposed 'talks' as well. I think he's sold shares because he's about to buy someone else and is taking as much from us as possible before selling up in the summer. Could also explain why he's not getting rid of Pardew. Let someone else sack him and pay off his salary.

Into conspiracy land we go! Maybe so, but why put yourself on the board? Anyone reading this offer up an explanation for that?

The most disclosed reason for selling the shares was to damage their valuation. Basically, he got in a huff (we've all experience this!) because the shareholders of S***** D***** wouldn't give him a £75m bonus scheme. So upon randomly selling a load of shares, he created a big devaluation and wiped a load of value off everyone elses shares!!! The guy's an unbelievable cnt.

I'm not sure on conspiracy anymore. Even the Rangers argument doesn't cut it - after all, Champions League has its' own sponsors, so he couldn't have SD plastered around Ibrox and get a Europe-wide audience. The PL has the biggest audience of all competitions for his sh*tty branding exercise. I don't think he's ever going anywhere, I don't think anything matters to him. There was uproar when he bought Lilywhites - but by the time he got round to trashing Firetrap, no-one bothered arguing, he just does it.

I think it may be as simple as it seems - he wants the cheapest, easiest, less-problematic solution to ride the PL advertising bandwagon. The only thing that could make him disappear is if some financial rules came to play whereby you couldn't just advertise for free and had to put a "fair" valuation on it. Maybe. Or perhaps if it just became too much of a ball-ache to keep NUFC up - which it might next season - then he might just give up. He's always, always been after an easy ride. You don't get to be that fat by being an energetic dynamo.

I'd be willing to give him a go, at least we'd see a bit of passion.

We see plenty of passion with Pardew. However when it is not combined with a football brain it means very little. Clark needs to learn. I'm not convinced he is showing signs of making it as a manager. To be fair, Birmingham is a thankless task.

    Spot on Roland.
He's got exactly what he wants, free publicity and advertising for SD by being the owner of NUFC.
God knows what its been worth to him, tens of millions at least.

He's a very calculating person who does everything for a reason, he's not even a gambler when it comes to business, he knows exactly what he wants and invariably enough gets it by bullying.

Three months after putting up SD on the Stock Market he bought NUFC, seven years later its value has soared twenty fold.
We've helped build his empire, and given him credibility and respectability.
Its not to his benefit to suddenly give it up, and I cant see why he would.

Agree with you on Rangers. Still years away from them getting back into the Champions League, and as you say SD wouldn't be allowed to be plastered across Stadia unless of course he became one of the CL sponsors. Besides the little matter of Celtic being in the way and Scotland having a c*** co-efficient that they will only have one entrant into the CL and that at the qualifying stages.

As you say, our only hope is that he gets p***** off, but I cant see it happening any time soon.

How many people shop at his jumble sales? He produces sales of around £350m a quarter, if I'm not mistaken. Let's take an average deal size for his utter tat of - and I'm being generous - £20. That's roughly speaking 17,500,000 transactions a quarter. Let's imagine there's a few return buyers, a few regular bottom feeders, so we'll go with an average of one person visiting his flea markets once a month, thus divide the 17.5m by three. That's around 6 million customers a quarter, around 20 million plus per year line his pockets. Even if we scaled up the amount of transactions and scaled down the number of customers, you're still talking millions upon millions of people around Europe - and his garbage is big in France - buying his crap. Newcastle's fanbase is probably lower, globally, than SD's customer base. So who loses? Geordies buy one kit, a kit that SD doesn't even sell 'darn sarf'. He does not give a flying fck about this club. The only thing that will make this cnt fck off is for the costs of keeping Newcastle in the league to outweight the costs of just advertising with the Premier League. At the moment, he's managed to keep his advertising costs at a princely sum of £0. Yes, there's been club "investment", but it's all completely protected, NUFC still owes him the money he claimed he bailed us out with and the club valuation won't depreciate much. Basically, he knows he's breaking even at worst, plus gets more free exposure from these boards, from write ups, press, adverts, media, TV coverage than he could ever hope to achieve in paying a marketing agency.

We were all suckered in. We bought it, thinking this would be good for the club and what we thought was an injection to save us from diseases is actually just morphine to dull every sense we have whilst the club itself slowly dies. And guess what? Me, you, everyone associated will suffer and the one cnt at the root cause of it all is worth more than the entire Geordie nation put together!

Life. Sucks a bit, don't it.
