nice try, but i'm the only canary to have posted on this thread oh, and if you think i spend a lot of time on here then my god, you should check out warky and guru! we've basically adopted them. only one person coming across as a dick round here and it certainly isn't me, judging by the internal messages i've received.
interesting you mention dyche. can't see ipswich fans taking to his style of football. did well at watford with a very limited budget. not a name i would have linked to you though. can't see adkins, mowbray or solskjaer being realistic options, nor redknapp so, as you say, all depends on what your owner is really looking for. i don't think any of you know what he is doing at the moment. there isn't much choice from the 'out of work' brigade! unless you want another paul jewell type...
This isn't an attractive job any more so we will have to recruit sensibly and with some degree of reality. MM or Billy Davis are the two for me! The rest of the names mentioned do not inspire much confidence and would not be right for the crisis we find ourselves in.
Nope, out of work are generally bad. Although Coyle is now on that list and I wouldnt rule him out but I cant see us being a realistic place for him to run to. Under normal circumstances I wouldnt suggest Dyche but he done very well with a limited team, had a better record tham Malky had at Watford. Doesnt take any crap from his players and actually had them playing some decent football. We do still have decent facilities and I can see Tisdale and Abbot being impressed with what we have. It would all depend how daunting they see the task. Although I dont agree with JWM's MM he shouldnt be put off by the task and would bring some respectability, just not a lot more.
probably fair, but why am i singled out? i'm not wumming, merely giving a different perspective on things. yet i get abused for doing so. charming! never mind, he's not gordon ramsey is he?
MM would only be a firefighter for me, short term fix for our current situation, capable of grinding results out but nothing spectacular. Tisdale, Hill or Adkins would be a better solution long term. I already think Keith Hill's great purely because he spoke out about the stupidity and unfairness of parachute payments.
It's cleat that as fans, we're not going to agree about the next manager only that a new manager is needed now rather than in another 10 games when we're even further adrift (ever the optimist) Having read this & other threads, I am torn between wanting a "firefighter" who would be guarenteed to keep us up (i have no doubts MM would) or an up & coming manager like Tisdale appointed for the long term (with a short term risk of getting relegated if he is found out of his depth) My own slight preference is for someone to steady the ship & at least point it in the right direction
Busy day at work & look what Iâve missed...! For what it is worth it is clear we need a manager who can work on a very tight budget, with Evans getting us set up for the FFP changes, someone like Tisdale or Hill may well be a good fit. Ex Prem managers all have one thing in common, they have all had a good deal more money to build squads than is likely to be available at Ipswich over the next few years. Supers, I think you misjudge the Town faithful, we are crying out for some sort of long term plan that is; 1. Shared with the fans 2. Is realistic 3. Is stuck to even if things donât work out in the first couple of seasons It is only in the last few months that a groundswell in loss of faith in jewell has happened, most of that is because the promises made in the summer on our transfer targets etc. have been torn up by jewell. For all those pre-season boasts jewell has only managed to get 2 players in that fit the category set by jewell himself and so far one of them is yet to play a 1st team game for us..!
Agree with this, in a way although I wouldn't want it I would prefer to see us relegated after appointing a manager like Tisdale with a 5 year contract than appointing someone like McCarthy, although obviously I really do not want us to get relegated, I think we'd loose most of our players!!! Agree with ME having patience (which I like) he certainly doesn't have a trigger happy finger compared to most owners although sometimes this may also appear to be a downfall, IMO he kept Keane too long even though he knew it wasn't working and seemed to loose faith in him (not signing players etc)!!
I like Owen Coyle and I do think he is a good manager but I would prefer a manager on the up, not someone who has just taken a club backwards and got the sack. Also I think he may well be the same sort of manager as Jewell, we'd play pretty football but still have the soft underbelly and concede stupid goals. In Pardews case, he was still taking Southampton forwards just not as quickly as they wanted. He was my favourite canditate to replace Keane unfortunately he got the Newcastle job a few weeks before!!
So basically you are saying that you would rather have us relegated under Tisdale than be saved under McCarthy! You must have a screw loose somewhere old son!
Have a look at your post number 75. I think that might be what Blue Monkey was reacting to. It might have got you banned from your board if it was the other way around. Like Warky said, you're on someone else's board so either pretend to be reasonable consistently or, as you replied to Blue Monkey, **** OFF if you can't. No offence!
You really do change your mind alot with the benefit of hindsight JWM. I swear there are so many things you come out with months ago, which then to either back up your own argument or just to disagree with someone or with the benefit of hindsight you then say the complete opposite months later!! were you not saying last year that relegation could be a good thing for our club??? I'm not of the opinion of this but I would prefer us to get relegated with the right long term manager in place and a long term plan than just appointing a decent but uninspiring manager just to stay afloat!!
