WHY are you calling OGS a wet behind the ears, chinless wonder. I find your attitude rather repulsive and tbh can't be bothered to debate with you anymore, i thought i was self opinionated and couldn't see others point of views but feck me....
Spanish your ignorance of the situation we now face astounds me! This is no time for a chinless wonder to come in and as a true supporter of this club I do not want to rely on a novice to turn things around! We have enough of those running our club. MM will be the best possible candidate!
Warky Each to their own Spanish but I know who would be the best manager for us in the mess we find ourselves in! Best you get on the blower to ME then and let him know!! FFS, deluded ain't the word!!
Fair enough mate but I couldn't give 2 ****s what you think as we all entitled to our opinions on here! We have both been calling for Jewell's head for about 12 months now and its a shame that we disagree on the successor. I wont lose any sleep over it and neither will you.
Have to side with spanish I think MM would for the short term get the results, and you cant deny he does get teams out the championship, but as with Keane I believe his temperement and style of play wouldn't fit the club and I think far from 'sorting things out' he would end up either walking or being sacked after a bust up with SC/ME. In either case as you admit he is a short term option and I think, and as you have stated there needs to be a long term plan put into place that. A project that we can all get behind. A manager that has learnt his trade in a foreign or lower league fits that bill much better. People like OGS also carry the name that ME seems to want in a manager.
If Marcus Evans wasn’t a drooling incompetent who apparently backs PJ despite being reduced to grovelling around for SEVEN loans and presiding over the current risible points tally, he’d contact Vitesse Arnhem and ask Fred Rutten to name his price.
Wow what has happened on here JWM and Spanish turn on each other!!! I have to say I'm not a fan of MM, he comes accross as such a typical yorkshire man stuck in the past with nothing positive or forward thinking to say. He has a decent record but he wouldn't suit Ipswich, he builds average workman like teams to ever really fail to inspire. I wouldn't be dead against it though unlike say I would be if we appointed Megson or when we appointed Keane, I wouldn't be pleased but I'd give him a chance. I do think he would be able to get us out of the situation but it would strike me as a short term fix. I'd like to see us go for Paul Tisdale, he ticks all the boxes for me or maybe Keith Hill. We need to appoint a manager who will evolve the squad rather than rip it apart!!
Here's a question for you all. With your history, would it be better if you had a young manager who maybe wasn't fully aware of your history - apart from what he had read - , or a more experienced man who has actually played against your team when you were in your heyday? The reason I ask is, that could it be possible that if they were less aware of what you were, there maybe less pressure on them and then you might be able to play with more ease and freedom. Could Ipswich be too big a club for Jewell to cope with? Look at his past record with clubs that had a history.
The Ipswich Manager's job used to be one of the most sought after in football but thanks to Evans and Clegg the job has turned into poisened challice. How they have let Paul Jewell continue to turn this club into a laughing stock is beyond me! This job was always going to be too big for him and I suspect that deep down he himself knows that. His refusal to fall on his sword is understandable as this will be his last job in the game but Evans' refusal to sack him will cause more and more damage as time goes on. This job is not for an inexperienced manager from a lower league club! This job is now cryng out for a an experienced manager at this level who can come in and steady the ship. In my view Mick McCarthy ticks all the boxes for the person we need now. We all want decent results and above nicey, nicey football in the short term at least. A plan is urgently required and MM will deliver us to safety this year so that we can push on next year.
Tisdale and Hill are both good shouts but I'm not sure they've got what it takes in our current predicament. MM isn't my top choice for a long term solution but would do us the world of good right now. Adkins would also be someone I would like to see at PR. We need to make ourselves competitive again and somebody needs to make the players grow some balls, MM would do this.
Very presumptuous, i don't know, none of us do, who applied or who was interviewed in any of the appointments. What we do know is that under Sheepshanks we applied from within a manager with no experience. Since SC/ME appointments have seen us bring in well known names. That's not to say they were good appointments or the way they have been running the club is at all the right way. However the appointments them selves seem to suggest the job has become more attractive since ME/SC came in. Whether that remains the case is yet to be seen, and of course ME and SC have to take there share of the blame for our current unattractive position in the table. Again you cant possibly know that, yes his last two jobs including us haven't gone according to plan, but another club might bring him in in some fashion, even if they bring him in alongside a defensive coach. Would have thought Derby would have been his last job. and just to be annoying, a punditry job is still 'within the game'... The rest of your post is just an opinion that i disagree with. I understand the reasons MM ticks your boxes and i agree he might steady the ship, but i believe the key issue really is confidence, a new manager bounce will happen under anyones stewardship and i think a younger manager that can be seen as more of a long term option is the way forward.
We need a cult hero! Look at DF at Palace. He's doing wonders there; not just because of his managerial skills (which are ten fold than Jewells) but because he's respected at the club. It's clear no one involved with our club (apart from ME) respects him.
If Paul Jewell was in such high demand why is it that after the Derby job he was on the sofa at Sky for 2 years until we turned up! He is 10 years out of date and no ambitious football club owner in their right mind will touch him with a barge poll when he gets the bullett from Town. I would definately go for a proven name right now as this job is a poisened challice and it is not the time to promote an unknown quantity! We have to look at where we are now and recongise that there is a hell of a lot of a things on the coaching and playing side that have to be put right straight away. MM will come in and do that job and the remit I'm afraid will be for him to steer us to safety this year. I would not trust any wet behind the ears manager to come in and try and do that.
Sorry JWM, cannot believe that MM would do a good job. On the last day of the season all Wolves needed was a draw at home to Blackburn to stay up. He could not motivate his team to even get a point in those circumstances ! What would he do with the car crash that is happening here ?
