Houghton is a good manager don't know why he was sacked at Newcastle , but can you get him from Birmingham ? As for poyet he I think can make the step up and is a well respected manager. Both teams need new players though, and we will be in the market for the same ones I think. Holt is an idiot if you get the £4m being touted I would bite the hand of who is offering that for a 31 year old
Most prob wil beat some big names! all I am stating is that we need to preform better away next season stop throwing a wobbler. were a better team than bpool even if we have holloway doesn't mean that we will have the same defence. I think he has something to bring to the club!
Throwing a wobbler ? You have a very strange way of looking at it, are jackdann and knackered also having a wobbler then ? I gave you reasons why I don't want the guy with us, holloways teams do not know how to defend, it's about the manager you can make an ordinary teams defence good with the same players, for example the differences between Martinez and Sousa. Or you can make a good defence crap the differences between the swans and blackpool. It's an opinion no wobblers involved !
Although Sousa hadn't a clue about attacking football he sorted out our defensive strategy for sure and Rodgers didn't abandon it, with our team tending to defend from the front. How often did you see Dyer and Sinclair tracking back and making a tackle? Quite a lot as I recall. That would go out the window with Holloway imo. We'll score a lot more goals but will also leak like a sieve - UNLESS Holloway has learned his lesson. Judging by last season he hasn't. Just an opinion.
Lads, looking at the betting andSky now mentioning that Bergkamp is now at 4-1!! Thoughts!! I would be happy.
think you're wrong mate silly example you using bpools defensive records against ours. when our defence is far superior. we do need more flair/ guts upfront. IF! holloway came in he will be inheriting a far better squad than the one he had at bpool! you are talking two different types of players!
That can be very easily undermined by instructions by the manager to do something else, holloway for me will be a step or two backwards. Probably score more goals and never have a clean sheet ever, looking at their last campaign in the premier league they only had 5 clean sheets , defence is really important we'd be kissing that goodbye with him in charge I think.
I don't want Holloway either. He strikes me as a bit of a joke. Did well at Blackpool but still got relegated. We need to be aiming higher. We need to improve on 11th and get to 7-8th this season. Higher would be better, but 7-8th will be good enough for 2nd season.
With all this disruption and the new manager playing catch up (a la Sousa), I have revised my expectations for next season. Great if we can replicate our final position, or better, but I'm beginning to think that I would settle for survival this time around, just to get stabilised at this level and bank lots more millions to continue our future development.
Excuse my ignorance, but what has Bergcamp been doing since he retired ? I've not seen or read anything about him? Has he been I'mn management ?
7-8th would be good enough, crikey you don't ask for much do you. given where we are at the moment and with our operating budget i'd be dancing butt naked in the street if we get 7th or 8th. consolidating this years finish without compromising our footballing style and being safe with 3 games to spare would make me a very happy jack.
