My euphoria at Redknapp and entourage leaving is tempered by the suspicion we get his mini me Sherwood. Timmy is from Borehamwood and can tell you he's not the nicest fella - will not go further into it. There is of course only one choice for us should we be so excellent at selling the challenge. A man of class, a man of pedigree and intelligence, a man who was truly world class, not the overused type of today, a man with a superb network, a man who's worked wonders at small clubs. The name? Wasn't it obvious? The Prince of Denmark himself, Michael.
Sherwood seems to be the most likely yet he has limited experience of management, no experience of a relegation battle and was rejected by other clubs for whatever reason. I hate to think he'll walk in just because he's Ferdinand's mate. McClaren would be great but no chance he's leaving Derby.
I would really like to see Frank Rijkaard imposing a similar style of play he had Barcelona playing between 2003 to 08. QPR had a beautiful flowing style of play during the mid 70 's and although the pace of the game has been upped since then, It could still work IF that culture was impregnated from minor level.
Way things are right now looks like a straight toss up between Hubris and Schadenfreude for next manager. Probably a jobshare would be perfect at this club.
I haven't personally being more excited since Moria Stuart invited us to enter her vortex on the adventure game
The tough thing is to get a manager in now - mid season. Why not get Clement to start from next season (whatever the division) as he has stated he won't leave Madrid mid season. Keep the temporary managers until then and allow Clement 6 months to sort out who/what he wants for a long term stint at the job.
"Other." I'd vote for McLaren in a heartbeat but it's common sense to ask why on earth would he leave Derby to come to QPR; anyway, he seems to have already ruled himself out. I'd rather wait until the Summer for the right man to become available rather than continue the managerial revolving door we've had in recent years with incumbents like Hughes and Redknapp who haven't delivered on their early promise. If that means we are likely to be relegated, I could probably live with that and allow the new man to build a proper team, in the Championship; a team that can take us up and keep us up. This next choice has to be a long term solution and I don't see the favourite, Sherwood, meeting the criteria laid down by TF.
Think they should see how we go with Ramsey and Bond for 2 or 3 games, if we win them keep them longer. Otherwise I think Colin would be a good bet to keep us up this season. Laudrup would be a good longer term shout, as I'm sure are many others.
Would like Clement, but he's already out of the running, as is McLaren - think we're all resigned to Sherwood coming unless Tony has a big night of FIFA lined up with someone else Voted for McLaren but I am becoming resigned to getting Sherwood.
If I was certain that relegation did mean damnation to the lower reaches of hell ( I.e. the conference)... I would take waiting for Clement......but remembering how difficult it is to get to the Premiership and how financially good it is...we must try to stay here....so again it I'd a rock and a hard place....If we had this choice in June or even December, we would have chosen someone else...shame. So I have voted Ramsey...in my fairybook brain, I can see Ramsey keeping us up and Clement taking over....so it must start Saturday, for my cunning plan to work
I went for 'Other' on the basis that we've not done a decent trawl through Yerp yet. I posted on another thread t'other day that the likes of de Boer, Van Basten, Avocado (maybe too old) etc. are around and could be teased over here. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and I'd like us to imitate Southampton (damn 'em).
