Who is out there that people would want to replace Slot? Doesn't look like Enrique is realistic, being on the verge of a major new contract with PSG (would be too expensive to buy-out)
At this point, anyone that can get our players fit enough to not be outran by pretty much every PL side.

There's enough talent in the squad to get better results than we are getting if a manager can do the above.

The whole thing is turning into a mess. The Salah post has shown there is a split in the dressing room as quite a few players have liked that post. Think its clear Salah is only leaving because Slot looks like he is staying. From what I have heard Slot goes back to Holland at least once a week to be with his family which shows he has not fully bought into the club.

Fans seem to be in favour of salads tweet, but pundits are criticising it. Just shows how out of touch the outside would (and owners) are with the fans.

Arrogance of epic proportions then from FSG then.
Tbh, I think it's often pretty arrogant of fans to presume that any player or manager should jump at the chance of joining us.
Alonso didn't want us two years ago, perhaps he doesn't want us now.
Perhaps the feeling's mutual.
He's largely unproven, and he likes three at the back - would he even be a good fit?
Anyway, we'll see how he fares at Chelsea.

I'd like Alonso but I think the 'three at the back' aspect is off putting tbh. The club said no to Amorin for that very reason too. Would Alonso change? Not sure he played three at the back at Real Madrid but nor was he particularly successful there either (for whatever reason).

I just want that fighting spirit back, show a bit of passion and desire.

I've said all along that I don't think Slot is entirely responsible for the situation, but it is his responsibility to sort it out, and he seems incapable of doing it. I think he lacks the necessary authority to control a bunch of footballer's egos.

I have no idea who I would like to see as a replacement. There are managers who have done well with mid-table teams who just aren't good enough to step up to the high pressure job of a club with lofty expectations.
Hence the long line of managers with apparent potential who have failed with Man U, Spurs, Chelsea etc. You could include Slot in that group.
Tbh, my emotional investment in the club has evaporated this season, and - for the moment at least - I just feel like an observer. I can't even get annoyed at the bad performances, I'm just resigned to it.
It's one of the reasons I haven't posted much on here (no internet for a month when I moved house contributed), I just can't be bothered joining in with the recriminations.

I just think Slot is out of his depth.

Doesn't help that he went on a piss up with the players (before the season had ended) like he's their mate rather than boss.

Totally with you on the 'emotional investment', but then that shouldn't cover as a surprise side we have a similar mindset when it comes to how football should be played.

I was one of those unhappy with the way we stopped playing at the end of last season, but there were plenty who excused it. In the end, it's a clear indication of the lack of discipline that I feel is Slot's major weakness.
Anyway, let's just make sure we qualify for CL and see where we go from there.

Alonso on record saying that he wants to manage us at some point. I think the talk of Enrique leaving PSG to come to us is a little arrogant, especially considering where he’s coming from <ok>

I agree with your other points regarding Alonso. He’s completely unproven in the premier league. As was Klopp. He also prefers a 3 man defence which ETH made a pigs ear out of so who knows whether he’d adapt or fail. There is no guarantee of success, whoever we appoint tbh so I guess I’m aligned with Z - as a bare minimum, work your arse off and go from there.

At the time, I thought it was funny and a major piss take to the rest of the league. But with hindsight, it was a terrible decision that sent the wrong message, both to our own players and the opposition.

We don't need to make sure we qualify, Man City are going to do that for us tomorrow night.

Pep anyone? Reports that he’s leaving end of season and Maresca is replacing him.
