Its very risky if they keep Slot if it doesnt work out I am sure the fans will turn on Edwards and Hughes especially if any new signings dont make much of an impact. There are a few managers available this summer like Alonso, Iraola and Glasner (not saying any would be a good fit just there available which they wont be in October/November time)

My wild no basis theory is Slot's contract ends next summer as well as Enrique's maybe they are just waiting it out to get Enrique.

Momentum is everything, get off to 3 wins on the bounce and it'll set the tone. Draw, win, draw and things will be pretty miserable pretty quickly.

I genuinely don't know anyone who wants to go in to next season with Slot, so we're not reading the room at all.

EDIT: Convincing wins, not stealing everything last minute like this season!

We won five straight off the bat this season, we were even 5pts clear at that point and talk of bookies no longer talking bets

Not many sides start with convincing victories, the good teams get better as the season progresses and finish strong
Sure, but if we continue with Slot then only a strong, convincing start is going to settle the fan base is what I'm getting at.

If we continue with Slot, we'll hardly ever have a solid convincing victory, that's not his style. He prefers to shut up shop after taking as lead, that approach will never return a 3-0, 4-0, etc type of result

you think he would leave PSG to come to a club they battered not that long ago <confused>

I'd like him too. And agree he is unlikely to want to join. However, in answer to your question... to do it in a better league? To do it in a different league? He's already managed in Italy, Spain and now France.

in which case he has the choice of us the Chelsea and presumably Man City andnot sure right now we would be top of that list

Man City have a manager ATM
(edit; just seen the leaked footage suggesting Pep is leaving)

Chelsea are a poisoned chalice and in a wide position then it's

If Arne Slot starts next season badly, the owner certainly regret not sacking him earlier. Now is the right time to get rid of him.

I agree. We've been here before with Rodgers in 2015 and he didn't even have the credit in the bank of a PL title the year before and CL qualification that season.

The only thing that Slot has going for him is that he’s a perfect Edward’s puppet. There is a possibility that it is Edward’s who won’t give a top tier coach the power that they need to build something special. This could be a disastrous few years tbh.

Edwards has one year left according to reports. He and Hughes were signed on for a 3 year project and both only see their role as the 3 years.
