If, hypothetically, we're bottom of the Championship at Christmas, do we give him more time because he's the best manager we've ever had? Where do you draw the line? It's just an opinion poll and as you say, the owners have given him a 3 year deal and a chance to continue at the club. But if we're doing ****, they won't keep him, no matter how good a job he did in previous years.
Colin Appleton in the poll that made me laugh, my stepfather did comment that the KC looked in need of a few licks of paint when he visited the KC last season so maybe he would be the ideal new man
I did post a while back that it is too late to change for this season and if we go down he has the experience to get us back up, but my concern is that he would then take us into a new season and he just doesn't cut it in the PL. I think we should part company at the end of May, but I doubt the owners have any real intentions of leaving and they will want him to stay. Best hope is that he resigns.
I would go with Phelan but I would rather us keep Bruce. I really hate all this firing people before their contracts run out.
Bruce will get a season to see how it goes. If we don't go up we will change. Changing managers now will only fuel any thoughts of " we could have stayed up had we kept Bruce" . He'll get one season, any more will depend on his performance. Anything but play off next season will be a poor season so he's got his work cut out for him
If Bruce wasnt our manager and was out of work, we'd all be saying hire him as there is nobody better to get us promoted out of the Championship
The players aren't showing any fight or desire under Bruce at the moment, what makes you think they will next season?
All irrelevant when all is said and wum-med. Not a chance in hell that this will happen anytime soon and thank the lord for that one BRUCE IN BRUCE IN BRUCE IN
Rather ironic that Tickles should bump this thread after seven months, as this last post would seem to have borne out on Saturday.
Upto to 3 games ago the last post was nonsense. However, Only the first half. I put it down to contempt for TWS actually. They all thought it was going to be way too easy. Shame the first half did not start like the second half. imo, We were ok, nowt more mind, for the first 20 mins and only when Alex Bruce got kneed in the back and had to go off did it all go Pete Tong with the rest of the half. Bolton on Saturday will show us just what they are made of. Losing to that Leeds outfit must hurt. I hope that Dawson has also ripped into them by today. As capt he more likely will have done.
We looked equally crap either side of Bruce going off, we were second best all over the pitch, they simply wanted it more than us.
Was it not only 4 league matches ago that we played Middlesbrough off the park? Were we not without Dawson, Meyler & Hernandez on Saturday? Are we not 4th in the league less than halfway through the season only 4 points off automatic promotion Do we not have Snodgrass and Diomande to come back to fitness? Is this not Hull City who always do things the hard way - as in last time we got promoted (just!)? Almost certainly we will continue to do things the hard way & it will probably go down to the last game of the season again - but at least Bruce has been there done it & got the T shirt. I certainly wouldn't want him to be replaced now.
I don't know which makes less sense - the fact Tickles has bumped this, or the fact that some wanted McClaren
Steve Bruce No championships of any kind (just promotion through play-off or as runners up) Overall win % as manager 37% Steve McClaren 1x League Cup Title 1x Eredivisie Title Overall win % as manager 46%
