I must say reading these posts makes me smile.....
My mates dad started taking me to Rangers at a young age in the Paddock when it was standing (RIP Bill-Never forgotten). First game was 0-0 in the old Milk cup v Southampton, 1985 i think.
A few years and a broken marriage later i took my 2 boys to QPR v Grimsby when they were 4yrs and 3yrs old. Grimsby won 1-0 and my eldest cried 'cos he wanted to support the team who had scored and won the game. Now they are 15 and 16 and are proud season ticket holders in the Paddock with me. We still talk of the first game they went to with fond memories and now i've married again and got a girl of 5 and twin boys of 2, hopefully in a few years i will take them too.
Whatever you all do PLEASE take your children to QPR, 'cos its a memory you and they will never forget and it is a way of passing on the great honour of supporting our club to the future generations. As said previously THEY WILL THANK YOU FOR IT :)

On a cold October Saturday in 1999 I took my 5 year old son to see the Rs play Portsmouth in what turned out to be one of the most tedious 0-0 draws I have ever witnessed at LR. He has disliked football ever since although I can still drag him along now and again.

Two years later I took my daughter at the same age to witness a 4-3 thriller vs Wycombe in our first season in League 1. She has never looked back and despite having attended 25+ games since that time she has still yet to see the Rs lose a game. Given the era we are emerging from what are the chances of that?!

The point being that this first experience can be crucial in gaining the hearts and minds of young supporters. Sadly, QPR have been notoriously bad at this down the years: whenever the club have had a Family, Schools or Kids Go Free promotions we have inevitably turned in a poor performance.

Haven't been down to LR for years - since moving north of the Border, but bringing my son down for his 9th birthday - any recommendations of a local beverage house to go to before the game?

Congrats Rrrrrrs. Actually what winds me up more than kids who support different teams to their dad's, I should know my dad's a Blade, is dads who suddenly start supporting their kid's team because their team is doing crap. I know you won't find anyone like that on these boards but it's amazing the number of guys in their 40s/50s I meet who were Bristol City as a boy but now follow Man U, or Ipswich Town and now follow Liverpool for their boy's sake!!!!

Crown & Sceptre is a Fullers pub thats tucked away and a bit quieter so a good place to go with kids. It's down Melina Rd which is off Uxbridge Road.

I took my lad to his first game at Notts Forest when he was six weeks old, as you can see he remained riveted throughout!!
