Between 3 players for me:

- Cabaye: natural captain material and does speak good English, surprisingly. Only issue is he just joined the club in summer

- Shola: captained us before, is English, knows the club back to front and I think we might go 4-5-1 to protect the makeshift defence, he leads the line better than Ba with such a flat midfield. Will almost certainly be him if he starts, but that isnt guaranteed either, Pardew doesnt like to change his team too much

- Jonas: regular starter, speaks English and been at the club for a few years now. More experienced than a lot of our players as well.

Simmo, he might not be the best, but he is always starting in our squad and talks to the ref.

No offence to the Cabaye lovers on this board, but is he as outspoken or good with his english?

Remarkably good for how long he's been in England, saw an interview on NUFCtv and he's better than some of the players who've been here for years.

I'd imagine it will be Shola if he starts. If not I'd hope the next in line is Jonas based on service and performance. After that I'm not sure, maybe Cheik if he was fit. Cabaye would be down my list of captains given he can't even speak very good english yet. He has enough to deal with continuing to adapt to the league without adding to his workload. Simpson is non starter given his contract situ, Raylor is just not the right type of character, Obertan, Ba, Best, Guthrie are non starters and Krul is just a young man.

ah right, its just that I think i read on this board that Arfa still sometimes has a translator.Although thats probably due to his broken leg as he stayed in France during his recovery.

De Jong.........

Jonas doesn't strike me as captain material although bar Colo, Saylor and Cabaye no one does. Besides Jonas is superstitious and he refuses to play unless he is the last one out and captains have to lead the team out of the tunnel and onto the pitch. Cabaye captained Lille to the league title last year so he would be the best option. However with him being relatively new I would give it to Mr Newcastle himself, Shola Ameobi.

Yeah the the problem is 'if he plays'. I don't think I'd want him starting over HBA, Ba or Best.

I'd like Ba and Shola up front. Shola showed in the second half v Chelsea that he deserves to start. I'd bring on Ben Arfa in the second half. The last few games have shown that Benni is very much still finding his feet again. We need a physical presence at Norwich. Ben Arfa will be better suited to playing against Swansea and West Brom.
