I see Redknapp is putting himself forward for the England job again. I've never liked the bloke evemn when he was at Saints. Is it just me or would this be a disaster? If not Redknapp who? Adkins in a few years?

What no-one seems to realise, is that you can't buy success as England manager, and that's all he's ever done. Besides, he might be found guilty in that court case thing and then he would never get it.
Exactly the point I was going to make. He gets success at club level but you can't sign Van der Vaart for England.
I just can't forsee England going for someone of his reputation. He has been alleged and caught up in far too many dodgy dealings over the years. He is naturally one of the leaders for the job as he is the highest ranked English manager in the football pyramid and whilst he won't be able to wheel & deal at a club I think that like Terry Venables did before he would be able to put together a decent team playing an attacking style. Whether that is winning football is another matter.
Behind him, well if Stuart pearce has success with team GB at the olympics then his stock wil rise. Then you have the rest of English Managers in the top flight.
Alan Pardew - Will no doubt divide opinion. Similar to Rednapp in style and i'm sure Saints fans will agree that tactically you feel he lacks.
Tony Pulis - Great job playing an unpopular brand of football
Roy Hodgson - Well travelled and great experience as a coach though has largely been unsuccessful in the big appointments. Although his tenure at Liverpool was not helped by boardroom unrest.
And that i'm afraid is your lot when it comes to English managers. Apart from Big Sam in the championship none of the other managers have enjoyed sustained success in the premier league and as much as our Adkins and some of the other English managers have a chance to have great careers I think after the McClaren experiment it's important not to pick a manager on the back of a good season.
International management is an old mans game and I think the FA have no choice but to look abroad again.

Hodgson. Unsuccesful in big appointments? Did well with both countries he managed. Was at Inter when Juve, Milan and Lazio were spending loadsa money and best in Europe. Went to Liverpool where they expect more than they should and had done well purely on the back of Gerrard for several years (who then got injured!!!)

Not Pearce. I've lost faith in his ability after seeing a couple of under-21 games. Hodgson would be a great choice, but I don't know why everyone is opposed to Redknapp. I think he's the best English manager right now.
I agree, lets not be blinded Redknapp is a ****er but he's also a top notch english manager.
I've moved on from disliking Redknapp...you can't hold on to things for ever. Still roll my eyes when he plays his 'rentaquote role' from his car, but that's all.
