No definitely not! Must say I was very tempted @ 33/1 last week when I was told.

I resisted the urge on the basis of the old adage, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. <laugh>

Hope not. Not on his own anyway. It would be a gamble in a long line of them.

Not enough experience on his own. Still wants to continue playing. No experience in the transfer market and can't rely on the Chuckle Brothers. Plus more if I could be bothered to think more.

As a playing assistant to an experienced manager, I could go with that but only gets paid for playing when he plays.

Totally agree Bluey. But what the hell is going on behind the scenes?

Unless there’s a new man waiting to be revealed, ie an experienced manager who can get hopefully lead us back to the Championship, then we are on a hiding to nothing. I would like to see Ramsey in a support role so he can learn the managerial ropes, but if he is to be named as our new gaffer then the last few weeks have been a total ballax.

There are rumours that Ramsey has been given a derisory financial offer and if that’s true it just sums up our so called board and owner. The same board who were allegedly prepared to push the boat out to get Jones, albeit on tick.

And Paul Abbo is now suggesting that it will be next week, possibly Friday 13th before an announcement is made. (Don’t look, William!). That’s a week before pre season training.

Perhaps he'll be looking for a more understanding boss. He'd probably consider Tan to be an easier touch than Levy.

I suspect Charlton will be in a battle to stay up in the Championship next season, a poor set of results could cost him the job….and he will have lost his chance to manage CC. Who on earth could deny him the opportunity to secure his financial security? Football is a pile of shiit these days….i’m smelling shiit!

Does anyone know why Nathan Jones is still second favourite this morning, despite signing a new contract at Charlton?

Clingo, do you have any idea?

If as alleged City (Tan) were prepared to pay several million in compensation to buy Jones out of his Charlton contract, why doesn't City (Tan) utilise those assets in the form of offering higher contract wages to attract a better standard of manager currently out of work and carrying no financial baggage?

Not everyone at Charlton happy about their Club's decision regarding keeping Jones...........

    "Charlton did not win
While the club chiefs will be happy with their work, feeling as though they won the battle with Cardiff, who were offering Jones the chance to manage his boyhood club, the Addicks have actually shot themselves in the foot.

It would be hugely surprising if this contract situation wasn’t sparked by Jones’ agent approaching the club and telling them to give their client a reason to reject his boyhood club. Contracts work on leverage, and Jones had plenty given Charlton did not want to lose their manager just weeks after promotion.

If that is the case, Jones is not the bad guy by any means. Clubs make ruthless decisions with managers all the time, so managers have to look out for their best interests and maximise their opportunities to up their earnings and land bigger contracts. This was one of those situations.

But by giving in - or by simply offering the contract as some sort of reward - Charlton have lost out. In reality, they didn’t need to give Jones a new contract. If he didn’t want to stay at the club and wanted to drop down a division, so be it. If he wanted to stay, then by all means reward the work of last season by offering him a pay rise, but for an EFL club to offer a five-year deal is ludicrous. Hardly any managers last five years in the EFL, and when they inevitably don’t, the club is on the hook to pay the remainder of the contract, making it an expensive sacking.

There was no need for Charlton to put themselves in this situation, and while Jones staying and signing a new deal may seem like a relief to fans, this is a financially irresponsible move from the club."

You should see the sh1t storm at Spurs.

Frank favourite to go there or possibly Glasner if Palace get dumped from Europe due to their owner's involvement in 2 clubs in the same Euro competition next season.

This has become an embarrassing farce. The most embarrassing thing for City supporters is that we expected it to be any different this time. The structure at the club is the same, the decision making personel at the club are the same, and at the top sits a leopard who doesn't change his spots.

Given the amount of money he's ploughed into the club this past 15 years, it could be argued that Tan has every right to make the important decisions. The worrying thing is, despite his dearth of knowledge of the game, he seems to believe he's capable and it's just a question of money in an environment he simply doesn't understand.

None of his other businesses would have been allowed to suffer the appalling decline that has befallen City this past 5 years without interventive surgery at the top. Ploughing in a couple of million a month is noteworthy and may well be keeping us going, but to carry on doing that without direct action to turn it around is poor business strategy. It's also a very expensive hobby for Tan and means heartache for loyal long suffering supporters with little or no ability to change it.

Despite my earlier reservations about next season, I'll be there along with another 15k or so City junkies, but please Vince, give us some sort of indication that you accept your own footballing limitations and employ personel who understand the game from that perspective, rather than a financier and an accountant just playing to your tune.

I saw Rubin Colwill and his wife in Tesco earlier. Having missed my opportunity to speak to Kieffer at David Lloyd's in Poole a couple of years ago (Kieffergate) I spoke to Rubin and asked him who our new manager would be.

He smiled and said "Not got a clue mate" as you would expect.

Bloody hell he's tall. I'm a shade under 6 feet, shrunk in the last 15 years, must be all the running compresses the spine.

He must be 6ft 4 plus. Now if he can be taught to mark, tackle and head the ball he could be a brilliant ball playing centre back.

Now there's a challenge for whoever our new manager is.....
