Starting to feel we might be doomed. I mean the previous games were all really winnable or at least get something from them and we got one win. Not only that but we have won one home game this season in the league - ONE - as Liz Truss would say '...that is a a disgrace'.
If Leeds and wolves win then probably. It feels like an inevitable progression: “we can turn this around” then “it’s still mathematically possible for us to stay up” to “We’re ready to make an immediate return to the PL”.
Without being a rant and raving reactionary - I mean I genuinely believe it is only football, I'm peed off for 15 minutes or so and then it's 'M'eh, who cares there's much more important stuff going on in my life' this time I cannot see us returning to the top flight for a very long time, and if we're honest if we get back, a club of our size and reputation is only there to make up the numbers, be cannon-fodder and a feeder club for the top six. I mean it really isn't that exciting in the cold light of day.
3 out of possible 9 so far. Given today’s performance and Selles at the helm how does everyone think these 6 games will go? Leeds- W Leicester- W Manure- L I’m revising mine to 9/18.
TBH we just need to take it one game at a time. TBH I can't even look past Saturday at the moment, it's such a huge game. Glad I've got my ticket for it.
Yeah I just looked at our remaining fixtures and it is going to be a minor miracle if we make it to 36 points with the games left. Basically would have to win every “winnable” game on paper, which includes this weekend. Still nobody thought we would get a win against Chelsea so maybe we can grab a win/draw or 2 against the teams we should lose to on paper
You look at games like Spurs and Liverpool at home and think it's far from impossible to get a result in those games. Chances are we're not going to win all our "winnable" games so we're going to need a few unexpected points. I was looking at our remaining games over breakfast this morning and seeing where we could get 20 points from (38 points is the new 40 IMO). So that's either 5 wins and 5 draws or 6 wins and 2 draws. It's doable but going to to be tough.
Liverpool might have one eye on a Champions League final and have the urge to rest a few players for our game.
Yeah I was looking for 6 wins and could only come up with 5/6 games I could see us winning (that included winning our next 2). Impossible to predict with any real confidence what the points total for survival is going to be this year so 36 might see us survive relatively comfortably
I can guarantee that we (and other clubs) will lose games we expect to win, and win games we expect to lose. It just always happens like that. I also think this season could be a higher total to survive than in previous years. I think you're right that 38 should be the target.
I reckon teams like Fulham, Brighton and Brentford will be “on the beach” toward the end of the season as well. Big thing is we need to keep up Saturdays intensity and remember how to score goals from open play. JWP can’t do it alone every week.
