That was with different players, managers and circumstances. Previous results have no effect on performances. Past performance is no guarantee of future results! That said, I am 100% expecting a loss I just don't think it is unwinnable as we have won as many away games as they have home.
We've presumably lost more away games than they have home though? They've still lost less than half their home games. I disagree with previous results meaning nothing. I believe in the concept of bogey grounds as it's in the psyche of the fans as much as anything and that can transmit to the players. It's not a coincidence that you don't win somewhere for 25 years imo. Particularly when the team in question have been **** for 20+ of those years. Edit - just checked and while we've won 2 aways we've lost every single other one so possibly not a great measure lol
One win will make such a difference, but it’s hard to see where that’s coming from. As others said 7-8 is a bare minimum, realistically I would be happy with 5-6.
Mate we never win at goodison. I’m in my 30’s, ive supported saints my entire life, and there is one game a season I never bother to watch (whether trying to get tickets or stream online)… I just know it will be an awful result there
We won there 2018, drew 2019. But yeah, I agree that I think we will likely lose. My point wasn't that we will win, I just found it strange that out of those 6 fixtures, all would be considered winnable except from Everton away who currently sit 17th place in the table.
Wasn’t that draw the one where we conceded really late and it felt like a loss? genuinely surprised that we won in 2018. I must have blanked that out
The one game on that list we 100% won’t win is Forest. My cousin is 37 years old and has been to at least 100 saints games. He has never seen us win live, has tickets to Forest.
No we didn’t. We played them at Goodison twice in 2018, Drew 1-1 in May and lost 2-1 in August. As far as I can see the last time we won there was 1997.
Out of interest what is their record like at St Mary’s? Isn’t it pretty much as bad as ours at their ground? (I know they beat us this year)
We won a league cup tie there on pens (0-0 iirc) which I'm guessing is what he's referring to. 1997 was indeed our last win there. There was another in the early 90s and then after that you have to go back to the 70s I believe.
Oh yes, just extended my search to all comps and you’re right. 2 Oct 2018, 1-1 at FT, won on pens. Edit: the player who missed a pen for Everton was none other than Richarlison.
They've got a poor record down here but no where near as bad as ours up there and has improved in recent years. 3 league wins here since 2015 which is the same as we have up there in about 50 years. Prior to that they had one win in each of 90s or 00s.
Haha, I just searched our record there and it had a "W" - didn't even remember it was that game. Which is odd as usually a win on pens still counts as a draw. But anyway, as I've said, that isn't my point. Just think it is odd to write it off as unwinnable considering that they are as bad as us (almost).
I’m going for 10 points as I have a feeling in my water!! oh you meant just for those 6 games….. ok we’ll wait and see…….
