8 or 9 from 18 would still be a good result, leaving us needing 9 points from the last 16 matches to reach 40 points. IMO we'll do better than that with a reasonable chance of doing better than last year (47 points). Any new players coming in during January to improve the quality of the squad would make that even more likely.
Wow, everyone has become so optimistic after our fantastic run. Oh dear, I feel disloyal, but I don't quite share this optimism. To be honest, I'm worried about this Wigan game. When you've had our kind of run and it ends with a bit of a jolt, if you don't win the very next game it can start to feel as if the wheels are coming off. I just hope most of our key players are back, we have the same intensity that we had throughout the unbeaten run, and Wigan don't have one of their good days. If we beat Wigan today I'll finally start to relax a bit and believe we can stay up.
Today is the key.If we can grab the points we would have to lose every game until March to get drawn back into the melee.25 points from 17 would be a fantastic achievement.
