My faith in Parliament (badly damaged by all that nonsense before the 2019 General Election) is now being restored. I would have dearly loved to see the 45p top rate tax cut defeated in the Commons. But a U-turn is the next best thing. Reasonable Conservative back benchers, continue to hold your irrational Government to account. Rishi Sunak had a clear majority every time those MPs voted back in the summer. Yet their copy of Labour's election process (which gave that party to Corbyn) has now given Britain its most incompetent Prime Minister of all time.
Yes, it's back to the '80s. On yer bike said Norman Tebbit. Get a new job says Jake Nobody. This lot have been in power far too long.
This idiot is worse than Tebbit, who was talking about his father. Jolly Jake is insulting the poor, and he speaks for his party.
get a better job....but do not go on strike for a better wage when the inflation rate drifts past 10%. Party of economic morons! And the infamous mini-budget (which is now staring to make the news across the world as Truss and Kwarteng beging to have to U-turn again. Whose idea was that? Truss said it was Kwarteng, who in turn says she knew full well. You know deep down, they'll eventually say the cleaner told them to do it
Note to the PM; The virtue of listening lies in listening to good advice before doing something stupid, and heeding that advice to avoid the stupid action. Not in ignoring all advice, doing the stupid thing and then being forced to listen to the backlash, and so be forced to U-turn. Politics 101. Thousands of people, including that young woman in the Question Time audience, had their first-time mortgage plans ruined by your stupidity. That harm has not been undone just because you've done a U-turn. Your stupid decisions have huge consequences for large numbers of real folk. So get a grip.
Liz & Quasi are lying. The real reason behind the U-turn is that Sir Graham Brady told her that there was not a Parliamentary majority for the measures, and there will be more U-turns. The plotting to choose the next leader has started.
A new Prime Minister with a majority of 80 seats faced defeat in the Commons on her first action as PM, within four weeks of getting the job. Surely unheard of in Parliamentary history.
Newest recruits to the Anti-Growth Coalition https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-63150632 Nurses. Going to crack down on them Prime Minister?
We'll be hearing this soundbite ad nauseam. Liz's ratings are now lower than Jeremy Corbyn. Desperate times.....
I enjoyed () hearing Margerine Thatcher saying over and over 'whet the people want..' as if that was actually something she cared about. I think waht a lot of people want is an election and a change of government. While the Tories continue to claim to be a new government under Truss, they've been in power for 12 miserable years now, and all the messes they claim to want to clean up are ones they have made themselves. For instance, that Health Secretary Coffrey has claimed she wants to make doctors appointment waiting times under two weeks (by telling the doctors to bloody get a move on). When Labour left office, the waiting times were 48 hours! So who has been in power since making the change - and lets not forget ambulance waiting times of 10 hours and upwards. Are those waiting times what Truss wants to grow?
12 years of decline under the Tories is something Liz doesn't want to talk about. She's behaving as if she and her Government have just come to power. I was disappointed to hear several callers to BBC Five Live having a pop at nurses because their play claim is 5% over inflation. And scoffing at the revelation that half of hospitals now run food banks for their staff. A bunch of Daily Mail readers I assume. Even 5% over inflation won't compensate for 12 years of neglect.
Disappointed with the BBC News at Ten tonight, leading with Putin ranting & raving that his bridge to Crimea was blown up in an act of "terrorism" by Ukraine. First up, who gives a f**k what Putin says. Second, that's bloody rich from him, considering that the Russian Army has been slaughtering civilians in Ukraine for nine months. Targeting residential areas with missiles during his war of aggression. What reaction does he expect? And thirdly, blowing up a bridge that your enemy military relies on during Wartime is clearly not terrorism anyway. No Russian civilians lived on that bridge. It is obviously a legitimate military target, and is on occupied Ukrainian territory, not inside Russia. The BBC ought to remember it does not exist to broadcast Enemy propaganda. They didn't broadcast Hitler's rants during WW2. They should stop covering Putin's outbursts now.
TBF the News went straight from reporting Putin's announcement to a far more lengthy coverage of Putin's atrocities, and the grief he was causing by his own terrorism. No-one could be any doubt about who the real terrorist is, and who is a loathsome disgusting individual, operating straight from Goebbals' handbook ("Accuse your enemy of that act which you are guilty of").
Muppet of the Week Kanye West https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-63198991 Is he going to run for President again in 2024? Elon Musk is also a muppet. Putin supporter who wants to buy Twatter just so he can let Donald Trump back on it.
Another reason why I'm no fan of social media... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-63213567 TikTok is also controlled by the Chinese Government. I'm constantly surprised it is regarded as a similar platform to the other well known ones.
Another meltdown for the new Liz Truss Government https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-63223894 The markets have no confidence in our bungling fool of a Chancellor. He has two weeks to come up with £60 billion of spending cuts. This situation is beyond ridiculous. Even the Bank of England has had enough. They're going to stop buying Government debt in 48 hours.
